Re: The Brown Trousers Thread
Kubica is back in Rallying and has been dominating Rally Canarias by winning every single stage over the previous champions in his rookie season. However, he's also back to crashing into guard rails...
Re: The Brown Trousers Thread
Reality hits home when your boss asks you to pull out all the certification docs for the units on one of your aircraft because it's crashed!

Re: The Brown Trousers Thread
Bloody hell Chris - I saw a video of this yesterday!!
I'm sure I'd read that the flight crew had radioed to say that the cargo had shifted backwards - it was carrying military vehicles I believe?!?
I've never seen a 747 stall like that, it appears to almost come to a complete stop in the air

Re: The Brown Trousers Thread
Does look like it could be a shift in cargo to me, but I'm no expert, and have no evidence to suggest so, or otherwise.
Looks like the angle of ascent is way too high, the aircraft stalls and the pilot just manages to get it righted before impact (probably would have been a skilful save if it all happened at a higher altitude).

Re: The Brown Trousers Thread
I wish I could remember where I read about the details - it was probably only conjecture anyway but it did seem to be consistant with what can be seen in the video.
Whatever happened it's a horrible loss of innocent lives

Re: The Brown Trousers Thread
All i know was my brother was flying into bagram on plane like that, and my intial reaction was worried he was on it.
Only after watching it a second time i realized the plane was taking off and he hadn't left for bagram yet after he called me.
Thought and prayers go out to to the families and those affected.

Re: The Brown Trousers Thread
chris ge engines where on the plane, could of been old pag RR unit!!!!!
We all had emails about this as looks like we had initial reports was a RR engine
Looks like Cargo getting loose from initial reports and way engines stalled may have to been to blame see aivition weekly reports etc
Thrust on PW or GE or RR engine would not of been able to stop this very very said
Hmmmm was a DOD contracted flight though?

Racing is life, anything before or after is just waiting
Re: The Brown Trousers Thread
hole crap, that must have been terrible to have seen that happen. I heard the cargo shifted to the back of the plane and put it into a stall.

Re: The Brown Trousers Thread
its a choptop 993 with a watercooled 3.6 liter engine out of a 996 GT3 RSR. It has been ported and twin turbo charged, among many other mods. Dyno'd at 860HP to the wheels.

Is it me or does the guy shout very abusively?
Obviously has never raced at the same time when Alan Mcnish is in full attack mode.

Re: The Brown Trousers Thread
I reckon he's one of the chavvy kids who thinks just lowering the car, adding spacers and sticking a phat turbo and exhaust makes it much better I can't see why else a Civic would slide out on a corner like that... Unless I'm mistaken, that looks like the corner at the top of the hill before Adenauer Forst. Any regular FWD car should be able to take that without massive issue.
If you lower a car you've got to do it properly, kids!
