Re: TCC Meeting 2 Discussion Thread - Silverstone National - 30/08/11
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL COMPETITORS
As of this round, and going forward, we are making some adjustments to the deployment of the safety car in the TCC.
The current TORA standard safety car regulations state that the leading car will become a pace car when the lobby captain declares a state of caution in a race. The trigger for this is an incident involving three or more cars. From the second meeting of the TCC, this trigger will be reduced to two cars.
Should two or more cars be involved in a major incident - for instance, unable to keep pace with the pack due to contact, either through leaving the road are hitting a barrier, etc. - then drivers involved may call for a safety car. At the discretion of the lobby captain, the lead car will then become pace car, slowing to a constant 80mph until the pack has closed up.
When the lobby captain is happy to resume racing, the lead car may recommence racing at any point between the pit entrance and the start/finish line, by calling go to all drivers.
While the TCC is run with cosmetic damage, events at Maple Valley have led us to make this revision. However, this is NOT an excuse to use your car as a ram. Careless and thoughtless driving will be looked at by Stewards following the meeting. While panel-bashing is a by-product of such close racing, taking someone else out and ruining their race will result in your exclusion from the points if the Stewards decide that you are responsible.
Simply put, USE YOUR HEAD. If a move isn't on, don't make it. And while calling out where you are is appreciated, it doesn't mean other cars are going to vanish off the racing line or give you right of way.
We're all here to have fun, so let's make sure that's what we have.
