Old Skool Le Mans Empty Old Skool Le Mans

Post by Duke of Bruno Wed 21 Dec 2011 - 21:11

I am looking at hosting an Old Skool Le Mans race sometime in January 2012. Either the 7th/8th or the 21st/22nd. It will be for 2.5 hours on the old track with limited damage.

It will be a multi-class race with the following cars:

1960’s Prototypes (S:700 - 525 bhp)
- 1967 Ferrari 330 P4
- 1966 Ford GT 40 MkII

1960’s Grand Tourers (A:594 - 449 bhp)
- 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 427
- 1968 Ferrari365 GTB/4
- 1961 Jaguar E-Type
- 1968 Shelby GT-500KR

1950’s Le Mans Racers (B:500 - 300 bhp)
- 1958 Aston Martin DBR1
- 1957 Ferrari 250 TR
- 1956 Jaguar D-Type
- 1957 Maserati 300 S
- 1954 Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupe

That is all I have for this at the moment. I will try to do a bit of testing to see how these cars stack up against each other. I am not going to worry too much about this as this not meant to be very serious. Once I get everything figured out and “finalized”, I will probably put this up on the FM.net forums to attract some non-TORA peoples.

What does everyone think? Is there any interest? Any advice?

The Vette 427 is far too powerful and needs hevy pegging back for other cars to be competative. I had tried putting a group of 60's GT-esque cars together in FM3, but the 427 had the least amount of room to work with. The '70 ZR-1 could be a better bet as long as no one slams the C6R motor in it. Right Louis? Razz Also in that group, the '68 GT500KR I had the hardest time getting any competative times with it. I haven't tried to get the GT-Group built up again in FM4, but I'm sure the '65 Mustang Coupe would work in place of the GT500KR. The Ferrari 365 is a definite. I even had the GT40 mkII and 330 P4 built well enough in FM3 to have ran within 0.1 with VERY little to no tuning needed. Again, haven't really tried in FM4. Razz

I added the Maserati. And, How would Jan. 29th/30th work?

That is good to hear about the Ferrari 330 and the Ford GT. For the 1960's GT cars, would restricting it to a max of 500 PI and 450 hp help out the situation with the Stingray?

i knew it was one of those. Razz

for the Stingray, perhaps force the Stock HP. And if you were to increase the year range, say from 1960-to-1972, you can get the '70 ZR-1 & '71 BMW 3.0 CSL

Well I did a bit of testing and I think I got the 60's prototypes and GTs figured out.

For the 60's prototypes; a max of 700 PI and a max of 525 hp. Full roll cage, race weight, and race tires are required. No Forza areo or conversions are allowed.

For the 60's GTs; a max of 594 PI and a max of 449 hp. Full roll cage, race weight, and race tires. No Forza areo or conversions are allowed.

This does not make the cars perfectly matched but I would say they are close enough. I am going to need way more in-game credits before I can test all the 50's cars that I had posted.

Or, would someone be able to help me out with testing the 1950 Le Mans Racers?
