Circuit of the Americas Empty Circuit of the Americas

Hello everybody!

I was lucky enough to go the the Grand-Am race this weekend and I got a few pictures. Even more lucky was how open they were in the pit lane, in fact Ferrari was letting people into their garage to take pictures! Very un-Ferrari like.

First off is one of the most incredible pit exit views in my opinion...

Under braking the #94 BMW appearingly locked the differential and completely spun off the track. I believe it resulted in a yellow flag, though shortly after the flag was dropped the car got back on the track. Surprisingly enough though the car went on to win the race.

The big disappointment for me was this car. It started fourth, and eventually got to third place. Then one of the Ferraris had to spend a long time in the pits so it went up to second. The car led a commanding lead in second, but was still far behind the first place Ferrari. Eventually the car hit a curb and destroyed the mounts for one of the front wheels. From there it was over.

Just to show how close they let us get.

Didn't feel like putting on the normal lens so I just decided to get a closeup.

Though the possible highlight of the day for me was the Continental Tire race. A Miata on pole was awesome to see(I drive a Miata) Through out the race it was clear the Miata had the day... but then something even more exciting happened. Miatas taking up First, Second and Third! Through the majority of the race the Miatas dominated their class, but then a safety car period let everyone else catch back up. Close to the end of the race a BMW M1 tried to get past the Miatas and spun the one in second place out, and passed third. Though the third place got back up to second and first place kept it, the second place Miata, the strongest one of the pack and the pole position sitter, was kicked down to seventh. The picture is of the one two finish on the last lap.

The black themed Miata in second is the one that got spun out later.

Nice photos..... I watched part of the race, hope the track sees a lot of use. We be great if they would add it to NASCAR and replace Loudon.
