Here we go folks. The discussion thread for this weekends Le Mans 24 Hours event. Here, we can discuss all together within the community about this years event as it unfolds. Thought this would be a better idea instead of using the sportscar thread.

Just a word of warning though. This is a friendly discussion thread. So we don't want to hear any arguing or disagreements or fighting on this thread please! I know that some of you will be biased obviously, but everyone is entitled to share their opinions

Ferrari could be announcing their plans during this years race. Possibly on raceday according to Sportscar365

Really looking forward to the race this year. Should be a good fight between the LMP1's. Future races should be good with Nissan joining in 2015 and the possibility of Ferrari.

Well, the health of sportscar racing has improved vastly these last couple of years and it'll be great to have Nissan and possibly Ferrari in LMP1. Let's hope the italians can do a better job with their (possible) LMP1 machine than their current efforts in F1.

Unfortunately real life has caught up with me, and I'll miss the whole race, probably. I work weekends as a student, and the shifts have carried on into the summer. I'll probably only make the start, which is a shame.

Then what's all this "ooh la la" about Ferrari's plans if it isn't about an apporach in protoypes? What else could it be about?

There's two sides here.
You got RLM/DSC claiming it's not Ferrari but someone else, and you got Enduranceinfo (The original source) and 365 saying it probably is Ferrari. RLM don't like Dagys either. Keep in mind that RLM/DSC were blabbing on about a Ford LMP1 and that was bonafide BS. (It was actually Dagys that shot this down too)

Ferrari also released a LM related video today and a Alonso is doing a lap pre race in a 512 (?) plus there's a pre-race press conference on top of the standard Thursday one for an announcement.

Ferrari doing a Garage 56 next year is unlikely. From Sportscar365:

While the Nissan ZEOD RC takes the place of Garage 56 this year, no decision has been made on a potential entry for 2015, according to ACO Sporting Director Vincent Beaumesnil, who said they are talk to two to three contacts at the moment. “It’s not necessary that we have a Garage 56 every year. It depends on the quality of the project and many parameters,” he said.

So perhaps it is an LMP1 effort after all??

Well, we'll have to wait until the big announcement on Saturday. Don't think it'll be driver related. More likely to be an LMP program. Problem is when you have all these different sites giving conflicting news, it only increases our curiosity even more.

Horrific crash for Loic Duval at the Porsche curves. He has been taken away in an ambulance and we are waiting for news. Holding back from posting pics unlike some disrespectful people on Twitter.
