Re: TORA Series Qualifying
It also says "potential" and "series captains have the final say".

Re: TORA Series Qualifying
Again, the OP addressed the possibility of the NGTC (and by its extension, TCC, as the format is identical), changing the format in line with the rest of the TORA series.

Re: TORA Series Qualifying
I say yes for the 15 minute qually sessions, but I'm kinda on a wash for the collisions/clean-dirty lap thing. IRL, two drivers may run close enough to get some kind of draft, but times may not be notified as so (or so I'm aware of), but in Forza, its easily notified with the stupid penalty indicator. If trying for a realism feel, I say leave collisions on and not worry about a clean or dirty lap, but I wouldn't turn away the prospect for a "collisions OFF" qually session. Its definitely up to the individual to try to find clean air...

Same here, I thought it was an open discussion on any future changes to, primarly, the ISCC. Maybe my comment about "2 flying laps in the NGTC isn't even long enough to warm up the tyres!" was taken as being a criticism of the NGTC rules - which it wasn't, it was a factual observation to support why I would favour a longer qualifying session in other series, if any change were to be made. I certainly wouldn't want the rules of any series to be changed willy nilly mid way through a championship.
Lets hope in Forza 4 there's an option to turn slipstream penalties on or off in the lobby settings, things would be so much simpler then!

It wasn't taken as criticism in isolation. There have been other comments regarding it made.
The reason I made my statement was because the possibility of change to the NGTC format was stated in the OP, and both as custodian and competitor, I wanted to make my own opinions on the matter clear. I'm not targeting anyone with it, as I firmly believe everyone is entitled to their opinion, but if everyone else is having their say on it, I would like mine too.

Re: TORA Series Qualifying
That's cool, just didn't want anything to be taken out of context. I happen to think the 2 lap qualifying suits the format of the NGTC, what with the sprint race and a reverse grid, and learning how to adapt to that is part of the fun of the series (e.g. the handbrake really helps heat the tyres up on the out lap!), whereas for ISCC and maybe GT a different qualifying format would be more suitable, which is what I think Chris was trying to ascertain here.

My thoughts exactly.
Re: TORA Series Qualifying
I agree that WGT and NGTC need a bit longer for their qualifying sessions but the ISCC with 10 minutes already does not need an extra 5 minutes to be added on, as for the clean/dirty lap thing i dont agree with that, the system is far too inconsistant on forza which i think could potentionally ruin peoples qualifying sessions on a number of tracks.

Re: TORA Series Qualifying
I agree with lfcnick on the penalty system in forza. At LeMans, if you get too close to touching the rumble strips on the apex(es) of the shicanes on the Mulsanne straight, you dirty your lap, whereas in real life, they can freely use those strips and not get penalized

Re: TORA Series Qualifying
i think qualifying replays should be saved and if theres any blocking, finishing times of those drivers should be added say 20secs?
this way people will really space out or if they go off they will be very careful when rejoining.

Re: TORA Series Qualifying
So summerizing it from the previous posts:
ISCC - 15 Min qualy session with collisions on and penalty laps allowed. It is up to you to find a decent gap to set your best time.
GT - 10 Min qualy with collisions on and penalty laps allowed.
TCC - 2 flying laps to recreate the tension of nailing your laps perfectly. Collisions on so it also makes you feel like you have to stay on the track not to ruin anyones race.

PLOW MAGiCturbo wrote:I definitely support a longer session (15 minutes is ideal) - 2 flying laps in the NGTC isn't even long enough to warm up the tyres! lol
My preference would be for it to be fully one way or the other - by which I mean either:
- collisions off and clean laps (i.e. a hotlap style qualifying session) or
- collisions on and dirty laps allowed (i.e. real world qualifying)
Either would be fine for me!
15mins and real world is my preference. Closer to real world the better. At least it means skill to judge the gap and avoid traffic like you in every grand prix or BTCC race.
15 mins adds the dimension of going out early or leaving to the last minute.
Re: TORA Series Qualifying
Yes to session length. No to clean laps. There is too much scope for competitors ruining other people's laps purely by drafting. I can see it happening and this isn't representative of real life. The penalty system in FM3 is the ONE thing I really never understood. It is overly harsh and utterly stupid as regards drafting etc.

Re: TORA Series Qualifying
What the hell is going to happen when we get to Le Mans? I dont think I ever managed a clean lap around there because the detection system is so tetchy.
