My Obligatory "Hello TORA" Topic
I'm Hailfire97x, and I'm a college student in Oregon, USA. I typically have been playing Forza 4 and FIFA 12 lately, but have been playing a bit of Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3 on the side when I want a break, or if a friend wants me to join.
My walls of my bedroom are covered in various bits of racing memorabilia, from die-cast cars to posters to a Mark Martin flag on my ceiling.
As far as sports goes, I'm a massive Portland Timbers fan as well as a Jacksonville Jaguars fan over the winter.
Comment/Questions/Concerns?

Hey Hailfire and welcome to TORA
What's your favourite die cast car from your collection?

Re: My Obligatory "Hello TORA" Topic
Oh, man, I don't have much. By "die-cast" I mostly mean "Hot Wheel Cars."
But one of my favorite ones is a #18 JGTC Takata NSX. I kind of broke the antenna when I was younger, but it's still awesome.

Aw man I had so many Hot Wheels cars when I was younger, used to cover every carpet is my parents house with little race tracks and have (in my imagination) the most epic races motorsport has ever seen.
I has a few larger die cast models on my shelves until a few years ago, until I started filling them up with other memorabilia

Oh man, brings flooding back memories....I used to spend hours doing the same ;O) even progressed to outlining my imaginary tracks with anything I could muster like Conkers!!

I had a massive set of coloured dominoes which were supposed to be used to create those trick knock over things. I used them to outline race tracks instead lol

Oooh, not to burst your bubble, but I haven't been a fan since a couple years before he left Roush. That's up there because it's simply awesome, and my grandpa sent it to me after he went to Daytona about 10 years ago now.
And thanks for the warm welcomes, gents! Nice to know I sparked an enthralling conversation in my first day!
This was the NSX I was talking about, by the way:

Re: My Obligatory "Hello TORA" Topic
My parents had a carpet that looked like it had the squarish Indianapolis circuit round the edge. I used to race my HotWheels and Matchbox cars round there. My favourites were a broken XJ220 and a car that I called a "Malaysia" because it said it on the bottom. I didn't realise that was where it was made...Richy59 wrote:Aw man I had so many Hot Wheels cars when I was younger, used to cover every carpet is my parents house with little race tracks and have (in my imagination) the most epic races motorsport has ever seen.

I used to do the exact same thing. We had this rectangular rug, and I'd fold the corners under to make banked turns at either corner, and I'd race my Hot Wheels NASCAR cars around it, or I'd recreate Monza out of Lego and race my Hot Wheels F1 cars around it, all while doing commentary!
I used to collect model cars too, so I've got quite a few 1:18 scale models from back then stored away!

i used to take a tupperware container of crayons i had to make the outside, inside wall, and pit lane, and make my own 1:64 scale NASCAR races with the HotWheels/Racing Champion/Matchbox cars.
used to build 1:24 models too. a couple NASCAR ones (including the '98-99 Mark Martin 'Flying V' Valvoline paint scheme). do not know if i still have it stored away, cuz i rmember taking the racing slicks off an older diecast i built and mounted them on the rear of a '69 Trans-Am

Re: My Obligatory "Hello TORA" Topic
I had a few of those 1:64 NASCAR die casts, a model shop in the East part of the city centre used to sell them for £1. I had the '98 Mark Martin Valvoline car, Jeremy Mayfield's Mobil Penske car, Kurt Bush's John Deere Roush car, the Tabasco Pontiac and a Boy Scouts of America car. I also had an ''Action'' made '93 Chevy Lumina in testing grey.

Re: My Obligatory "Hello TORA" Topic
Back when I was at Uni I had something like £4500 worth of Minichamps and AutoArt models. That was each 1:18 F1 Champion car from about 1996 to I think 2004, all the BAR Hondas to then, McLarens from 1997 to 2004 (including a West branded Kimi one) and from AutoArt both Bentleys from 2003 and the Sebring spec Aston DBR9 (still have that ) Sadly had to get rid of nearly all of them.
Always wanted to get a couple more prototypes. Would love the Lola Aston and the R18 if anyone ever makes it.

Re: My Obligatory "Hello TORA" Topic
All the stickers are peeling off the Legos... Quite a shame, really. The F430 at the bottom right is slowly peeling away from the sunlight. Without the stickers it won't look like a Ferrari anymore, but I have nowhere else to keep it :/Rollin InAn STi wrote:a Lego Technic Enzo Ferrari! i made me one of those. no longer have it though.. :'(
