TASCAR 2012 - Round 5 - Benchmark Oval - 18th August 2012

Qualifying starts @ 3pm EDT (8pm BST)
Race Day starts @ 4pm EDT (9pm BST)


Qualifying Format:
- Standard 4 Lap setting. 2 "Flying Laps". Due to the Nature and Size of The Benchmark Oval, a roll off delay will be used for this event
- Damage will be Cosmetic, Collisions set to off so no-one can catch anyone elses draft.
- On Lap 4, pull over to the 'Apron' of the track on the Front Straight, so the lobby host can gather times.


Race Day Format:
- Race Length is 40 laps. Lobby will be set to 41 laps for the Pace/Formation Lap.
- Damage will be set to Cosmetic*. Collisions are ON.
- NO mandatory Pit Stop* this round. (*note*: Seeing there is no Pit Lane around the Benchmark Oval, There is nowhere to Pit, and/or repair damage)

Caution/Safety Car Speed: 100mph
Safety Car/Caution
In The case of a Safety Car is called, DO NOT brake to get down to Safety Car speed. this could cause chaos. Let off the throttle and let the car slow down on its own. During the Safety Car period, Everyone forms up Single-File until everyone has caught up, then the field should reform into 2-by-2 formation for the restart.
- During Safety Car
While under the Safety Car, drivers may pit and use their 'Mandatory' pit for that session/stint. Anyone who may be a lap down can get a lap back (but not those involved in bringing out the Safety Car).
---A Safety Car can be called up to the penultimate lap of the Race, and thusly the final lap will end under caution, and go into "Green-White-Checkered" rules once all competitors are back to the main lobby. If there are not enough laps to have a "Green-White-Checkered" under the Scheduled distance, the final laps can be run at a faster pace to complete the laps, BUT NO PASSING IS ALLOWED!!!

I'm on the fence at this point... IF the NASCAR race at Montreal is over before the race, I'll be in. Otherwise, I'm leaning towards watching a great race than taking part in a not-so-great one.

I know I wasn't supposed to race the road course circuits as part of a deal with my wife, but I'd have made an exception if Suzuka East was on the schedule. NASCAR actually did go there, back in the 1990s. Only place Mike Skinner ever won, and he won there twice. Not as off topic as it sounds, as that should have been in this track's spot on the schedule IMO.

I'm planning on one or two off-season races @ Infineon full in a Regal GNX, and/or Suzuka East in a Camaro IROC-Z.

BTW...it was brought to my attention that I was running with the wrong wheels in this series. It was unintentional, gave me absolutely no advantage (same weight and PI) and they have since been changed. I was under the impression we were able to use any wheels as long as our PI matched up and they weren't chrome. Obviously I was wrong.

Guys a few tips on this race, its a long one we had a good few yellows last year remember the track is wide so use it but dont go below the line its really bumpy there. Hook up with a draft partner you will need one here, if cant use your partner just take anyone you cannot afford to be left behind as thats what happened to Dan last year. With the damage off you can bump draft just dont do it too hard.


I normally like to do the bumping, but the car in front has to trust the guy behind big time, just count youselfs lucky im not there to help Mark as we flew last year! One small movement wrong can cause big wracks here one and the BIGGEST point of all, DONT BE LEADING GOING INTO THE FINAL LAP! you will be mugged!

Thanks for the info.... definitely a looooong race. Hope the batteries hold out for the whole race.

40 laps x roughly 1min+ lap times + formation lap & safety car periods = too many variables. i'm guessing a 50 minute race meeting or so

No need to paint your car Red yet, as my TASCAR car is still Black/White/Green, and there has been no team name change... yet.

Just curious, what's the chance of starting 15 minutes later?
