TORA Mustang Challenge Discussion
The TORA Mustang Challenge starts on May 10, and the build is set, the series stickers are made... but the schedule (and some rule specifics) is yet to be determined.
So, I am asking you the racers, would you rather do all three races on one track variant or use multiple variants of the same track (i.e. National/International/Grand Prix)? We did this for the GT300 series, and I quite liked the variety, but with the tuning, as limited as it is on the Mustang, it could make for more work to get the car prepped for three tracks instead of just one.
The other Q I have for you all is Damage... Cosmetic, Limited, or Sim? Cosmetic damage is great for hard close racing as it nullifies the consequences, but it also seems to reward what otherwise would be risky maneuvers... what's your thoughts?
BTW, the car and vinyls are on my Storefront free of charge as always.

Re: TORA Mustang Challenge Discussion
Single Circuits. I wouldn't mind if there was no tuning allowed, but since there is tuning allowed, one circuit variant would be better to run.
Cosmetic damage since the large field the Friday Night Spec always gets are usually asking for trouble.

Limited damage to give some consequence to but not severely hurt minor contact.

Re: TORA Mustang Challenge Discussion
if the racing is anything like MMTCC (which given the car, I'm sure it will), its a 50/50. Cosmetic was good for close rubin's racin kinda stuff, but people were leaning on eachother too much. That's why since, we've run limited.

Either way there are rules about over aggressive driving. Cosmetic isn't about the racing to me. Same either way imo. Its about continually having your races ruined making the series' not so fun. Cosmetic races for the most part in my experiences over tons of series' ran...far better.

Changed my vote to single track if there's tuning. I don't have time to spend tuning 3my different tracks a week. Thought it was a locked tune setup? No?

Re: TORA Mustang Challenge Discussion
Keep the thoughts coming in... I would like to get enough input to form a consensus.
Its not a locked tune, but as there is mostly Sport parts, there isn't a lot of tuneable components. Air pressure, Diff and Final Drive ratio... maybe brakes but I don't remember if I used Sport or Race brakes.
One thing to remember about Damage... the build uses stock aero. Unlike GT300 and V8 Supercars, there would be no downforce loss in a hit.
I have an idea about grids and points that should make this championship a bit interesting, to say the least.

Re: TORA Mustang Challenge Discussion
Last night's impromptu test went very good, as these cars are racy on tracks I was rather unsure of. A bit more testing and then a schedule will be up soon. Expect a six week season, with a track or two that is rarely used in TORA

Re: TORA Mustang Challenge Discussion
After running these last night I definitely think it should be cosmetic damage with a set tune. That will keep every race competitive. This car was a blast to drive and hear.

Re: TORA Mustang Challenge Discussion
With Sport Trans, Brakes, Antiroll Bars and Springs/Dampers, the only adjustments are Diff, Tire Pressure, and Final Drive. I am thinking that allowing tuning is a way to keep anyone from cheating, but wish there was a way to force default setting on an upgraded car. That would make the decision much easier for me.

Re: TORA Mustang Challenge Discussion
Mikey, we can test the setup that I made. Also, with that setting you can control the exactly weight to setup the lobby and to avoid “if someone change parts.” In my opinion, with that setting, give more stability to the car and increase the probability to be more competitive, think about that.

Re: TORA Mustang Challenge Discussion
The build you did is the same exact weight as the build I did. It just has more grip. I had tried maxxed out tire width, with 50 more HP, and still found it to have too much grip to be fun.
More grip = less mistakes. This I understand. But too much grip = no mistakes. And too easy to drive takes any Challenge out of the racing, which I find to be very boring.
I prefer cars that are challenging to drive... not impossible, not easy, just a challenge.

Re: TORA Mustang Challenge Discussion
If it was 2 tracks instead of 3 I would definately say multiple tracks as the tuning doesn't normally need to be that much different.

Well Mikey, I bring this up because the GT300 serie it was a very competitive serie and those cars are stable. But, I understand your point. Well see!

Re: TORA Mustang Challenge Discussion
You are right about the GT300 being very stable and yet competitive. But I try to give every series a unique feel, to cater to everyone's tastes.
The upcoming Trans Am Series is a good example of this, as the cars have the exact same PI as the GT300s, yet have a totally different feel to them. They definitely reward driving skills with their power to grip ratio.
