After an interesting Tsukuba round for BMN Racing the Clio Cup headed to Germany for the penultimate event at Hockenheim on the Short Circuit. 1.64 miles long and a tough challenge for the Clios, BMN would be part of a twenty-three car entry, requiring A and B lobbies once again. Rejoining the team for Hockenheim having missed Tsukuba was Uniform16, with mjg36 and jgroves1996 alongside. For Hockenheim, BMN Racing would be sponsored by Fetzers German brand Sausages, while mjg36's car would be adorned with Ayrton Senna tributes on the 19th anniversary of the great Brazilians passing at Imola.

Qualifying would see the trio split up, with jgroves in one lobby and mjg and Uniform in another. In their lobby, mjg would set the fourth fastest time with Uniform just behind, while in the other jgroves was a tenth slower than the times mjg and Uniform had set but was only good enough for 9th. With the field split into their race lobbies, Uniform and jgroves would line up 2nd and 3rd in Lobby B, with mjg36 starting 11th in Lobby A.

Race one would be a case of what ifs for mjg in Lobby A. A rather over-enthusiastic into the Stadium hairpin early on nearly took himself and Slider S15 out of the running but all escaped undamaged, and the battle from race 2 at Tsukuba involving the two drivers continued. With CQR Franchitti having an off and then lagging out, taking JamesHall94 with him, Slider and mjg battled it out throughout the race, eventually Slider taking the initiative, with mjg a delighted 9th in lobby. That was, until the fastest times were revealed, with mjg's 1:16.4 good enough for fourth fastest overall! It was clear a better start was needed in race two.

So with Jgroves and Uniform missing out on Lobby A by a few tenths, both were hoping for a win in the lobby B races. Both made reasonable starts from 2nd and 3rd on the grid, with jgroves making a move on his team mate early on. He then started to hunt down the leader Bandit. The pair jostled for position throughout the opening stint until groves ran wide at the final turn. He fell down to 4th and finished just behind Uniform with bandit winning.

Race 2 in Lobby A was defined by an early incident between JamesHall and Slider. Having started at the back, JamesHall missed his breaking point into turn two and slammed into Slider. mjg took avoiding action and slipped into 8th behind JAM FULLMAN, Bli33ard and BG Wingnut. These four would spend most of the race line-astern, with mjg again struggling to find a way past on the narrow sections of the track where he had the pace to challenge, and would eventually finished a slightly frustrated 8th. Again, his single lap pace was fantastic, a 1:16.1 good enough for 4th overall.

Race two was an eventful one for the BMN pair in Lobby B. Jgroves made a move deep on the inside at turn 2 on Uniform and then got spun round by another driver. Uniform collected him and both were sent down to the last two places on the field.
Jgroves, frustrated by this event, then began to pick his way back through the field from last. By the end of lap 1. Groves was out of last place and on the back of Uniform. The pair battled with other drivers, but the battle was settled after Uniform had to take evasive action from a bad rejoin of a fellow competitor. jgroves then pulled off several impressive moves, including a tense pass around the outside of MrLagtastic as they entered the stadium. Jgroves managed to claw his way back up to 5th in what he labeled one of his best races. Uniform managed to fight his way back up to eighth after being caught behind several slow drivers.

The final round of Clio Cup Season 1 will take in Suzuka's East circuit, where BMN Racing have an exciting announcement. All will be revealed on Tuesday.
