RedRacer19
I would like to make a concern to everyone about RedRacer19. During Rounds 3 & 4 or the Spec Cup today, I have heard a couple of complaints about his driving style (I, for one, have been a victim). I think someone needs to talk to him about TORA driving standards and patience.

Re: RedRacer19
There were a few issues in Lobby C that need to be addressed. Like someone sitting in the middle of the track, not moving and having the leader come around to slam into that driver. Another was the corner cutting, it was really bad. I have the replay's up on my SF if anyone wants to look.

I agree here, I've heard complaints to, maybe someone could have a word, or we could wait for the next round of the Spec Cup and see if it happens again? As it could be just the fact that it was one of his first races wasn't it?
I'm not condoning it, he did seem to have a 'Unique' attitude when he said that he found a load of corners you could cut with a getting a penalty.... :LL

An SI is in about the car sitting on the track.
Re: RedRacer19
those si are being dealt with and think we have to bring things clear to the newer drivers and with regards to redracer19 if you look throught his posts there are comments of asking for things like auto gears so with him racing the spec series with 95% of assists off then we may have problems with his driving ability
i may take time out to teach him how to things work and what you can and cant do i TORA

Re: RedRacer19
He made note to say it was his first ever TORA race last night, so maybe he's just learning. The worst thing to do is jump all over him and say he's a terrible driver and shouldn't be acing etc etc
Re: RedRacer19
I'm pretty sure there is enough of that as it is without coming at the person on an official capacity. I too am more than happy to share tunes, answer questions, and discuss racecraft especially with new folks. I think we all know how intimidating it is to come strolling in to what has got to be the largest competition based online racing forums on the net (or at least one of a handful of the largest). I also think it goes without saying that this is nothing compared to what it will be like once FM5 kicks in to high gear. I'm not sure what the answer is (a 105% rule, mandating all assists off, mandatory test sessions, driving test, etc), or what the overall goal is (do we focus on growth, competition, prestige, exclusivity) but coming to TORA blind has got to be a bit daunting.
Re: RedRacer19
I'm not saying that we should start calling him a bad driver and boot him from TORA, I'm just hoping that maybe someone with more patience than I do with new drivers could teach him how TORA works and to help him meet driving standards.

Re: RedRacer19
To be honest I am glad this action has been raised during the spec cup race and not at an ISCC event or such.
Re: RedRacer19
Seeing as there are so many people signing up these days maybe it'll be easier to make video to cover the basics of racing standards? Just an idea!

Agree Spec cup is very good for the new guys, lets them have a taste of what the racing and set up is like here at TORA. I'm sure the guy's learning the ropes, we all have had 1st races here .

I remember my first race was a disaster by taking out the same guy three times throughout the course of the meeting. I would like to see some form of driving school or instructional video on TORA to avoid disastrous first races like mine and RedRacer19's.

Re: RedRacer19
As far as the corner cutting goes, if I should put in an SI on that it would most likely be for multiple drivers. I just have to look at the replay to see who all it was. As far as RedRacer goes, I agree he needs to be shown the proper way of doing things. I just wish I had a gaming dvr to help with a video, But then again my driving sucks. So I would be the last person who should be doing that.
Re: RedRacer19
My first race was awful, but at least I stayed out of everyone's way while I was being lapped!!
I have had a few terrible races. I do remember one S8 GT encounter at Nurburgring where I hit the back of a few people, not great.
I think some sort of serious but somewhat light hearted video would be good, on overtaking, rejoining the track, outbraking etc

Re: RedRacer19
Mine was alright. It was DTM's at Hockenheim. Spun at the Hairpin after trying to retake a position i lost on the back straightaway, but i didn't hit anyone

Re: RedRacer19
But, I agree, maybe if the mistakes keep happening, (i.e in the next round of the spec cup), then we can have a word and try and help him to get better, cause it's quite scary doing your first race!
I do like the idea of a 'Driving School' style thing for some people wonder how that could work

Re: RedRacer19
Yea most of it is just basic common sense, i.e don't drive across the entire track after coming off when there's incoming traffic, or dive into a corner ahead of 2 cars infront and expect them to see you coming.
But would be nice to give pointers on holding a racing line and making the perfecet move ect.
