This implies that a change of car outside of the mid-season window will result in a penalty. If car changes were not allowed whatsoever, the first sentence of the excerpt I quoted would be completely unnecessary.

Although i do agree with where you are coming from, to be technical it doesn't say anywhere that you can change car and incur a penalty...

I don't pay attention that closely to teams in GTE as I'm in LMP1, but I know he ran a Corvette there, which was after the mid-season switch. Maybe he made a new team, which if that was the case, it would be fine. I mean he's obviously not concerned about team points. And on a side note, Deftone tells me he switched to the B09 in LMP1, how was that approved?

I don't think you can do that Colin, I think they are "locked in" to their original team and car choice. One of the staff will be able to clear this up but it looks a bit unfair choosing a different car for each track.

If they were out to do that then they wouldn't have fought to the death at Laguna such that Texas got damage.

Yeah once you are registered in a series you are locked in to that car, unless you are a privateer and jump to a team, and then you are locked for good.

On live timing some drivers are in there "old"car ( as they should be).
So if Deftone, Alex, warspite,( maybe even more guys didnt check it) qualified in there new car, they would be DQ?
The switch VAMR Wilson made what about that? Never got an answer about it ( LMP1 to GTE after round 8 ).
