Seat Supercup Round 1 report.
Hello.
Back at base from a intense racing at Twin ring Motegi, if you didn't race there last night, 'Oh my' did you miss out.
Last night saw the newly formed TCR Seat Leon cup have its first round. 22 cars were lined up in the paddock and looking rather impressive which just sets the standard for racing in TORA.
Qualifying:
As the cars left the pits only 4 flying laps were allowed so getting a clean and fast time was very difficult. This was Corsa la Vittoria debut race in any championships and hopes where high.
Render (iTeknix) achieved a 1:35.034 this settled him 3rd in Lobby A and Wilkinson (Shrinkingsteven) just ahead in 2nd with a 1:34.950 just 3/4 of a tenth separating each of us so I had very little bragging rights over my team boss.
With ONR Bunz snatching pole position from us by .150 of a second it was still all to play for and the field behind us we could never count out. Wheelwash and BG Wingnut behind iTeknix all could easily make our evening much more intresting.
Race:
As the lights went out and 22 Beautifully prepared Seat leons hurtled towards turn 1. Wilkinson and Render tired going onto the offensive to take the lead away from ONR Burnz and on turn 2 something amazing happened, we got the lead! Wilkinson lead the Seat super cup!
For all of a second due to some Stella defensive driving from ONR Burnz this put Wilkinson into the clutches of Render and there were no 'Multi 21s' in this team and Championship as Render dived into turn 5 stealing 2nd away but at turn 6 Wilkinson re-took 2nd and the stage was set for how the race was going to go.
At the pit stops Burnz pitted early and 2 laps later Wilkinson pitted. This gave Render the lead of the race on lap 16, next lap he pitted and only just dropped down to 3rd behind his team mate.
In the final 4 laps Burnz's tyres were starting to drop off and Wilkinson and Render reeling him in. The last lap saw the gap was 100ft splitting the top 3 and Burnz only just holding the Vittoria cars off.
Great racing from everyone in the Lobby, awesome event cant wait till round 2.
Congratulation to ONR Burnz for his victory and iTeknix on his 3rd place. Also to all the hosts and guys putting this on.
Thanks for reading
Steve.
