Which one should I pick?

Hopefully very soon I'll be able to get a new car. I'm not going to be able to buy something really expensive, but I want something sporty. I have narrowed it down to two cars so far. They are:

2013/14 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec


or
2013/14 Hyundai Veloster Turbo


Now my decision for the two. Mainly because of price. I can get the Genesis for about $24000 where the Veloster is about $21000. Normally they are much more but I can get a great deal on either. I know the Genesis is RWD and the Veloster is FWD. But the trade off is practicality versus sportiness. I can do more with the hatchback than I can a coupe. But, the coupe is so much nicer and for me easier to get in and out of with my back the way it is. I know there are many more cars out there that are more popular like the Ford Focus ST, Honda Civic Si, Suburu Impreza WRX. Really I would go for the Suburu if money wasn't that big an issue but my budget is maxed at about $24000. I know Hyundai isn't the best name in the world, but it's more bang for the buck compared to the rest and with a much longer warranty. So either would be a step up from my '06 Kia Rio that I was stuck with after my divorce. Just don't know.

Hyundai has really upped their game. If I didn't have a Maxima, I would have tried the Genesis 4 dr. The four door cause when we go visit my wife's mother (she's 98!) its easier for her to get in and out of.

If the UK market could get the Genesis Coupe I'd absolutely grab that! But having seen a number of them on the road, I'd have to say the Veloster

Just on looks alone, I would definitely choose the Genesis

Well it's only me and maybe a kid every now and then. I sat in both today, but didn't test drive. I'll wait till it's closer to purchase time to do that. Granted they both were really nice but leaning closer to the Genesis Coupe. Also another is fuel mileage. I do have a bit of a leadfoot. That's only because of the training I went through when I was in law enforcement. Nothing like powersliding a box Caprice or Crown Vic around corners running code. I thank you all for your input so when the time comes I'll post what I bought.

3) "Do I need to go shopping?" A: Yes, but just for groceries and both have plenty of room.

Sort of. The GT 86 is not available in the US, just the Scion and Subaru versions. Being somewhat mindful of price, I suggested the Scion version as everything with a Subaru badge sees a price mark-up here.

I would look at the BRZ/FRS but they are too expensive. I can get the Genesis Spec-R for about $23700. The FRS is running at around $26000 and the BRZ $28000. I would love to have a Subi but just can't afford it. Plus the Genesis has around 74HP more than either. It's still a toss up rally. By the time I get ready to buy the 2014's will be coming out and dealers will discount the crap of the 2013's to move them.

If it were me, I'd go for the Genesis, as it is RWD. If you lived in somewhere with harsh winters, I'd consider the Veloster... but you live in Florida so FWD would be unnecessary.

Well I finally got it. I ended up getting the Veloster Turbo. Only took a week to get it because apparently it is really hard to find a Veloster with a Turbo, 6-speed man. and the Ultimate package in a 5 state area. The one I got is the only one in the state of Florida for at least the next 3-6 months. The car is amazing, well I think it is at least. After picking it up today I ran into a downpour. That car really felt planted with all the water on the roads and it just goes when you step on it. I'll put some pictures of it up Friday. I have to surprise my son when I go get him.

....im just not sure why Toyota ever created the Scion nameplate. the same cars are sold elsewhere in the world as Toyota's still. the original xA & xB were known as bA and bB in Japan. not sure of the tC. the FR-S IS the GT86, but rebadged for the US market. Same with the iQ.

As I see it, the Scion brand was created to appeal to the younger urban market. Similar to how Lexus is the luxury car brand, Scion is the "cool" car brand.

Basically,

Toyota = Original Mountain Dew; Lexus = Diet Mountain Dew; Scion = Mountain Dew Code Red

I wanted the matte grey. The issue with it is any fingerprints show up on it and you cannot take it through certain car washes. It would have also taken close to 6 months to get it. The one I bought was the only one showing up in the southeast for the next 4 months.
