LMP Motorsport Spec Series News
How do we even begin to review the 2 seasons of the Spec Series. Here are our highlights.
Season 1: Volkswagen Golf GTI VR6 Mk 3 `98
Season one began with us in Round 5 & 6 in Hockenheim. CarbonViper93 was the only driver in the series for LMP Motorsport in the races, with an 8th place finish in Lobby C on a debut and then 7th in Lobby C in Round 6. Round 7 & 8 saw us fly over to Tsukuba, Japan, with CarbonViper93 finishing 2nd in Lobby D in both round 7 & 8. Round 9 & 10 was a finale at the Camino Viejo De Montserrat Mountain circuit, where CarbonViper93 managed 5th in Round 9 & 5th in Round 10. CarbonViper finished 25th overall with 467 points in half the season, it was a great debut result for LMP Motorsport.
Season 2: BMW M3 E46 `97
Season 2 began fresh for CarbonViper93, with Season 2 in the Spec Series. Round 1 & 2 took place at the famous Road Atlanta circuit, with a fantastic 2nd place qualifying in lobby A for CarbonViper93, ended in 8th after lap one where JVz slammed CarbonViper93 into a spin, causing him to finish 8th in Round 1, Round 2 saw a recovery from 8th on the grid to 5th in the race. Round 3 & 4 took place at Sebring International Raceway, where another fantastic qualifying for CarbonViper93 ended in the same situation as Road Atlanta, JVz hitting CarbonViper93 into a spin, he managed to finish 7th in Round 3. Round 4 saw improvements to the run to get 4th in Round 4. Round 5 & 6 took place at the legendary Silverstone Circuit, where CarbonViper93 struggled for pace and finished 8th in round 5. Technical issues forced CarbonViper93 to drop out of Round 6. Round 7 & 8 was at the renown Nurburgring GP circuit, where CarbonViper93 finished 11th in Lobby B due to heavy mechanical problems. Round 8 saw the car unrepairable, forcing CarbonViper93 out of Round 8. Round 9 & 10 see the Nordschleife making a return, but LMP Motorsport have decided not to run it in case of technical issues arising again. Despite this, CarbonViper93 managed 18th overall for the series and holds the 1st place trophy for most Did Not Starts!
