Re: TCR IROC 2002 Lap Times
These cars are excellent, what fun. Pretty simple to drive with a little finesse and throttle control. Gonna be a good race.

Re: TCR IROC 2002 Lap Times
I would say Motegi should be around 40-45 laps. A 50 lap race in a DTM car takes around 30-35 minutes and they're about 2-3 seconds faster.

twin ring is only gonna be a 20-25 minute race?
Yes, one race per meeting. Time could fluctuate with safety car periods. What should take 25 minutes could take 40 minutes if it is a wreckfest. Plus this week, we also have a Q session.

Re: TCR IROC 2002 Lap Times
40.207 without TCS...40.036 before I saw we were running without it.
But since I cant have it expect me to be spinning out off turns 2 and 4 a lot.

Did a dozen or so laps tonight trying different lines and found something that works... 39.271
Re: TCR IROC 2002 Lap Times
I tried the Stock Car line...nope, it didn't work, slammed the wall of 4 and rolled about 6 times trying to get everything I could out of the car.Flyin Mikey J wrote:Did a dozen or so laps tonight trying different lines and found something that works... 39.271

Sounds odd, but try to get LESS out of it in turn 4.

The old saying "Slow down to go fast" comes to mind.
In real life experiences, this is much like driving on a dryslick dirt track.

Re: TCR IROC 2002 Lap Times
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Youll loose more time by trying to jam into corners too fast than you would by slowing down and making you take smooth lines that allow you to get back on the gas once, and only once. These tracks are all about momentum and any unecesary braking or lifting slows down your speed for the next 2 laps almost.

Re: TCR IROC 2002 Lap Times
I think the race pace will be in the high 1:33's, lower if you're able to get a good tow.

Re: TCR IROC 2002 Lap Times
Kinda Backed up my 1:35 something just now...ran a 1:36.3XX and left some on the table...problem was I locked the brakes up entering turn one and slid the entire distance to the wall that blocks the oval portion. And where I test and tune with Limited Damage I destroyed my car...so yet another back-up Car is in order for Sunset...lol.

Re: TCR IROC 2002 Lap Times
I'm trying something different this week: practice. I figure if I do 30 laps a night, I should do a bit better than I have so far. Hitting consistent 56's now, with 56.331 as my best lap.
Re: TCR IROC 2002 Lap Times
Practice is overrated.

Re: TCR IROC 2002 Lap Times
The most important practice you can do is in the laps you to 30 minutes before the race. I was running minute and 32 second times at sunset but didn't practice for a business week, and took me half the race to get back to that pace because I'd forgotten all of it.
