Aww yeah, Suzuka is up next!
First of all, why bother having a megathread to discuss a series when there's this whole thing called forums to do that? It's a pain in the arse to read through a 100+ reply thread that covers a million different things.
Secondly, aww yiss, mother****ing Suzuka!
Not only do the Japanese love making overpasses in their circuits (see: almost every track on Gran Turismo set in Japan), but this one is one of the sacred few figure-8s that isn't a cluster**** like Top Gear test track! This is by far one of my favourite tracks in the world, but I say that about at least a third of the tracks in Forza. As with the Honda-owned test tracks in Japan, they are far superior to the Toyota-owned test tracks, just like the cars.
But what makes Suzuka so special, you may ask yourself. Besides the obvious lethality of the track (MotoGP stopped using the track after Daijiro Kato died on it in 2003) and its tendency to kill off great Japanese racers (and give one American racer a heart attack), there is the fabled 130R turn which originally featured a corner consisting of a 130-metre radius high speed arc. Since 2003, said arc was split into two arcs: 85R and 340R. Turn 15 is best taken as fast as possible, and it's here where the track separates the lions from the lambs. Of course, there are also the challenging sections including, well, the entire track, but of particular difficulty are turns such as 11 (the hairpin), the Dunlop curve (between seven and eight), and 14 (the second corner of the Spoon curve). My favourite bit of the track is the S-curves section of turns 3-7. The Casino Triangle chicane at the end of the track is perhaps one of the best chicanes in any track I've played on what with its location after the fastest part of the track as well as the visibility issues you have running through it into the end of the circuit.
Really, the only complaint I can articulate about the track is that, like with everything Japanese, it's too small! The circuit is quite narrow, and passing is particularly difficult on most of the track. However, this adds to the danger, and that makes it so fun!

Bring it on!!
Love zuka too, one of the tracks i feel suits my flow.
2 Gt10 lobby wins here and want to add iscc to that.
Plenty of room to race but may get a bit hairy with two classes coming by.
Hopefully keep my 0% aero damage record going

Re: Aww yeah, Suzuka is up next!
Where do I start with Suzuka.. Erm.... Narrow, bouncy, twisty, let's hope the LMP1 and GTE drivers are in sync when they go for passes, 130R and the first few corners are not recommended.
Re: Aww yeah, Suzuka is up next!
Let's just get prepared for the arguments between LMP and GT again! If we can't deal with Road America and Mugello what chance do we have at Suzuka?

Re: Aww yeah, Suzuka is up next!
The whole reason i entered a MULTICLASS race series is because i enjoy managing traffic and the challenge.
I like working with other drivers to mutualy benefit our races.
Thats the fun part. The whole event is a test of how well you can manage traffic and still make the milage.
I got 6th from C lobby 8 seconds back in GTE last week and hardly said a word to the faster cars. I held my line and let them work.
If im crossing the track to take an apex they would know and when it came to tight corners i left space by running wide to get them by without contact. Not had a single accident just by being predictable. Some near misses when lunge passed but i saw it coming and stayed wide.
The only time i had an error in multiclass was when i strayed from the racing line at the community Tec Rd america to let an lmp go by at the carasel exit.
He was already setting me up to pass under me at the exit and had to run of the road to avoid a crash.
That re enforced the mantra in my mind to always be predictable.
I know an accident will come my may soon as were all pumped with adrenaline and going for it, and like to think i will handle it better than what i see on the forum the last few weeks as it really detracts from the whole event

Re: Aww yeah, Suzuka is up next!
Not even reading the post are you? There's no way in hell anyone is going to read through a 1000 post thread that's as broad as the NSA dragnet!
Re: Aww yeah, Suzuka is up next!
If you know how to find your way around these forums it is actually very simple.JVz wrote:Not even reading the post are you? There's no way in hell anyone is going to read through a 1000 post thread that's as broad as the NSA dragnet!
The two handiest things to know when trying to find your way around these forums is the "View Posts Since Last Visit" link which is found on the forum home page;
and,
that the "page" icon on the right side of the screen just behind the name of the person that last posted in that thread will take you directly to the latest post.
If that is too much to figure out, then you can easily go to the last page in the thread to see the most recent posts.
Creating a separate thread for every little topic just makes it harder for everyone. Instead of a single thread with many posts on the general subject you will end up with pages and pages of subforums to house the many threads that are each a couple of posts long. Then the problem becomes that you have too many useless threads that people do not care to look at (much like this thread).
As an bonus pro tip; if you have this site bookmarked, bookmark the "View Posts Since Last Visit" and you will never miss anything.

Re: Aww yeah, Suzuka is up next!
Personally I like a new thread for each track, The old thread can die and fade away with all its arguments and trash talking and things can be a bit more track specific in the new thread. New guys dont have to trawl through and see all the petty whining that went on the week before
Everyone's different though.
My phone regularly crashes so if you hit new posts and the phone glitches I dont get the new posts any more. Just a there are no new posts to view. thats a different subject though.

True it is hard to pass at Suzuka; but it's still about fifty six thousand times better than Mugello in every conceivable way. The clue is that it works for cars and bikes. And that Suzuka is a riot to drive around anywayTG Haydo wrote:Suzuka is going to just as boring as mugello, single file all the way

Re: Aww yeah, Suzuka is up next!
That's the spirit! Totally agreed. It's a rather narrow track with lots of dangerous corners, so all the lap traffic passing will have to find a way to work! Plus, unlike Mugello, this might help hold up traffic enough to let fields compress together again at various times. Also, anyone messing up will give way for easy passes, too, and there are quite a few run-off areas where that can happen.TweekPunx wrote:True it is hard to pass at Suzuka; but it's still about fifty six thousand times better than Mugello in every conceivable way. But I totally agree with you, Suzuka is a million times better than Mugello in every conceivable way. I'll just be glad to drive on a smooth track again more than anything to be honest.

Going to be exactly that & Ill be th unlucky one with traffic. Mugello is a very technical & difficult to get where as suzuka is just narrow. Oh wellLMR Deftone MX wrote:Draft wash and Motorhead's E brakeTG Haydo wrote:Suzuka is going to just as boring as mugello, single file all the way

i've had a pretty solid connection with AT&T, Warspite. cannot remember the last time i "lagged out" of a race. My last DNF was from an Xbox-Freeze, which was upsetting in its own right.

I'm also using wireless, if that's any consolation to my issues... I would go wired, but oddly enough, I need to play on a small SDTV in order to play video games well! I can't comp with the HD input lag, and all I have near my router is a 55" Vizio... Quite the conundrum, only for me though

Re: Aww yeah, Suzuka is up next!
I used to have the same problem with input lag, its so frustrating and only a few people seem to be sensitive to it. Have you tried used the xbox cable (the one with the blue green and red things can't remember what its called) instead of HDMI with a smallish HDTV? I used that for a while and it worked great but had to switch to a 5m HDMI due to moving my xbox and tv around. The Bulin Wall5 wrote:I'm also using wireless, if that's any consolation to my issues... Its playable with my current setup and I barely notice it now, but I think the smaller tv is what helps a lot.
