Am I in the right here? I think so?
So last night in the Fun Cup at the Indianapolis Grand Prix circuit, CarbonViper93 was involved on an incident on the first lap which put him a little bit behind the rest of the field.
Because of this, he decided to completely cut turns 1 and 2 on 14 confirmed laps in a 20 lap race so that he could catch back up to the field.
On one of these corner cuts, he ran straight into the back of another racer, ruining that guys race too.
I gave CarbonViper a disqualification from the race results along with a drive through penalty for the next race.
In truth, I had wanted to ban him from the next race as well, but MichaelJGroves preferred not to. So I consider Vipers punishment lenient.
Was the punishment justified? Because he then sent me a private message saying the following:
"I only did it to make up the time I lost to the field, I know it was wrong but I am not in the mood for bullshit driving, if you care to piss me off further, do so, but I am not in a mood for ridiculous penalties for only doing what any driver would do, so next time you want to [Censored] me up even more, do so. Sunday didn't help and Monday has [Censored] it up, so, I want to know why I was given such a harsh penalty for something that I was only doing for the sake of the [Censored] start."
I believe that it was lenient.
If you want to look at the incident, the replay is available on my storefront. Ride on board with CarbonViper93 and look at him during turn 1 on every lap. He even cut the corner just after exiting from pitlane!

Wo not a way to speak to a fellow community members.
Was this PM sent to you on here?

Re: Am I in the right here? I think so?
I believe you to be in the the right, however not sure if it is a Stewards responsibility or not (could be wrong for TCR races)
I do however believe the way he spoke to you was just as bad as his actions on-track, if not worse, that is no way to speak to anyone on this forum, let alone someone who assists in setting up and hosting the lobby for them.
As Duncan said, if this message was sent via this forum, please can you maybe screenshot the whole inbox if possible?

For the Fun Cup, me, MichaelJGroves and PJ Groves (A Former MSA Steward himself) Decided that we could handle SI's so that we didn't put any more strain on the TORA Stewards. (A group I'd still like to join by the way )
The PM was indeed sent on the forum.

Wasn't critising you mate, only ever done maybe one round in any TCR event so not sure how the post-race works lol.jgroves1996 wrote:For the Fun Cup, me, MichaelJGroves and PJ Groves (A Former MSA Steward himself) Decided that we could handle SI's so that we didn't put any more strain on the TORA Stewards. In all honesty I think you did the right thing, just didn't want to seem imposing to anyone else reading to make me seem like im being a bad guy and ignoring the protocol.
As for the image, there it is, "pretty as a picture" some may say, I can't do anything with it, but I do hope one of the Admin's can look into this for you, I believe you caught Duncan's eye pretty quick, as he's usually the first to jump on any misbehaviour lol

If I were to receive a message like this for something like what happened here, then I don't think I would allow that person to run for the rest of the season. You were 100% in the right and maybe Viper need to be sat down have a little talk.

I'm not really that bothered about what he said, but still, I'd hate for him to talk like that to anyone else on here..
Release the Duncan ;D Haha!

Re: Am I in the right here? I think so?
Viper needs a big slap on the wrists for that. I would have banned him from the rest of the series to begin with. You should never have to put up with people talking to you like this and when he was completely in the wrong in the first place. That's ridiculous

I know this isn't the most important thing now (it seems that quite rightly his language is the main thing being scrutinized), but this was the line that he took 14 times out of the 20 lap race:

I knew you could take that line, I see people in public lobbies do it all the time but I never thought I would see it on TORA

Re: Am I in the right here? I think so?
Regarding the actual race:
I'm not too fussed about him cutting the track to catch up, its cheating and would deserve punishment under any circumstance.
However the moral is he did so to catch up, yes he got knocked off, he saw it as "I came to race, I want to get back into the race", but what he didn't see was the risks of this, by taking every way to get yourself back to the pack, you also endanger another driver's race, and that is EXACTLY what happened.

Re: Am I in the right here? I think so?
Which is why corner cutting isn't allowed at all, if he didn't cut the track to catch back up with the rest this wouldn't have happened. If you get hit then you get back on the track & race with in the rules TORA have given or just quit. Cutting the track like that is dangerous to everyone else like you said yourself chris and that's why he shouldn't be allowed to do that [Censored]

Re: Am I in the right here? I think so?
Agree with all of the above. I couldn't actually believe he did what he did, and then said in that Private message that "Any Driver would do the same?!" Unbelievable.
And then to follow it up with the language.. Hmmm....

Re: Am I in the right here? I think so?
Agreed, if he wanted to cut corners, I know of a few public lobby servers he could join where he'd fit right in Lmao.TG Haydo wrote:Which is why corner cutting isn't allowed at all, if he didn't cut the track to catch back up with the rest this wouldn't have happened. Personally:
- Race ban for the driving actions.
- Series ban and flag for the received message, context and language used.

Well I won't change the decision about the driving actions, but I'll wait and see what the Staff say about the Language and everything

Re: Am I in the right here? I think so?
Probably best to leave it here and just open up a new thread for the investigation in the stewards area would it not Wingnut mate?
That way you can keep all the evidence/resources in one place without having the influence of the responses already posted up.

Re: Am I in the right here? I think so?
What a race marshall discussing what happened in a community series, a negligent driver, receiving a rude and frankly disrespectful inbox message, then asking if the punishment was justified?
Personally I don't see a problem, whether he inboxed an Admin directly or posted it in the Marshall area where he has rights to, I think he made the correct and rational decision throughout.

Re: Am I in the right here? I think so?
yes but what i am saying with the driving actions it should have been brought foward to the stewards cause we have procedures and with the pm that should have been brought to the staff expressing concern

Re: Am I in the right here? I think so?
I couldn't have put it in the stewards folder as I am not a Steward... (feel free to make me a steward so I can lol)
I didn't really want this to be judged by stewards, I was just asking your opinion on my decision.
The main issue here is his language/attitude. That is the thing that needs to be dealt with

Re: Am I in the right here? I think so?
I dont see I problem with it being here wingnut hes asking a question to the rest of the marshals over a incident in a championship he is running.
Mate you handled this really well, I would properly ban him for the rest of the fun cup championship now and get staff to give him a telling off.
