Good luck.
In a year, if you do A Levels, you'll realise how easy GCSEs are. And will probably think to yourself you could of gone a grade better in every subject. 4 A's, 4 B's and a C right here . I found that a lot of people have different approaches to GCSEs. You have the nervous wrecks who are pinning their future career on this day, and you have the others, like myself, who couldn't give a flying fart (I already decided to join the Army so results weren't a huge requirement for me). Oh, and prepare yourself for the absolute mountain of A Level preparation homework your teachers will give you for the rest of the holidays.

Best of luck chaps, just remember though if you fail everything you can still get a good job without going to university (personal experience)
Re: GCSE Results Day. Dun.. Dun.. DUNN!
I echo what Richy says.
I'd say with a majority of jobs in the UK, companies prefer "experience" to an "A" on a sheet of paper. Jumping straight into a job at the bottom and working hard to work up the ladder works very well, and I'm not just talking internally within a job. For me, from working in a video rental shop, to doing in store sales, and now as an account manager for a global company and the opportunity to earn a lot of money.
Grades do help with a push start in a company, but jumping straight in and working your way up works very well too.
Either way, good luck to everyone!!

I left school at 15 straight into a good job and havnt been been unemployed ever so as long as your willing to work hard and tell loads of bullshister in interviews you will go far with no grades .

I remember getting my Standard Grades through the post, and being gutted I didn't get eight 1's... But really, it doesn't matter at all. Remember you can put whatever results you like on your CV! I remember thinking how critical it was to get good grades at that stage, but now looking back (where I'm scraping Cs and Ds through my Engineering degree at uni), I can't even remember what subjects I took for my Standard Grade's!
It seems to be a UK thing where everyone is pressured into uni. But there is plenty of opportunity out there with apprenticeships and what not. Doing what you really want to do is very possible if you look in the right places!
Just enjoy school life while you can, boost through your higher grades and have a good time, things generally tend to sort themselves out one way or another! Oh what I'd give to be back in 4th year of high school!

it's exactly the same here, depending on who you are it's either you're heavily pushed into uni or heavily pushed out of it. to my mates that have decided not to do Uni are all doing fine even though they're still in school with apprenticeships and what not and they enjoy it because they know they can still get great jobs just though the apprenticeships and hard work. I personally am on the other side of the spectrum, i now have a cert 3 in fitness done and am doing a cert 4 now, but for me it's not quite enough, next year i'm hoping to be in Uni studying a Bachelors of Exercise Science for 3 years and in 2 weeks i have the biggest exam in my life because without it i cannot get an OP (Overall position on a 1 (highest) to 25 (lowest) scale) that i need to go into uni, it's going to be tough i know, and our teachers have enforced that as well, but come next year or the year after, i recon that i'll look back on it and think it wasn't that hard, it's the same with just about anything in life, not just examsnickyf1 wrote:I remember getting my Standard Grades through the post, and being gutted I didn't get eight 1's...
