We tried but couldn't come to a straight decision.Bli33ard wrote:Hate to say it... but Stan I think the staff should make this decision behind closed doors. Everyone wants themselves on TV, people will be on there more than others.
A) Well the driver will be told to change their paint for the next race, and we'll show a different lobby instead.VAMR Wilson wrote:
A) Have to make sure all the cars are legal to be shown, (ie what if 1 lobby A driver does a BTCC paint by not reading rules?)
B) If the races are done in full and its 3 races that's a hell of alot of editing for Stan to do.
C) Along with B we're talking alot of looking through the other lobbies to find the best bits from other lobbies again loads of editing and time to put in.
B) Overall it's the same length as the GT. No biggy.
C) People were in these races and they can let us know of what happened in their lobby. They can send us a replay and we'll check it out.
We can only do one. Trying to mix both won't make sense in the spectator's point of view.XPR Soundwave wrote:Why no NATCC??

What was the point of putting the poll up then? Think the evidence is pretty conclusive...Bli33ard wrote:Hate to say it... but Stan I think the staff should make this decision behind closed doors. Everyone wants themselves on TV, people will be on there more than others.
My suggestion is that Lobby A should always be on TV once, if not twice, and another lobby that actually has a good race, not a hot lap lobby.

Stan, would it not be any different than viewing 2-3 different lobbies In one show and recapping...

No, it's a completely different series on a different championship table.
I'll see if I can fit something at the end but I'm not sure how well it would run.

Re: TCC on Motors TV - Aired Lobby Poll - PLEASE READ.
Yeah that's true, personally, the races that are aired should be the lobbies that had the best racing. Didn't really enjoy a lot of the GT broadcasts cuz some of the races seemed to just be a hot lap war.

But also, during actual broadcast, they sometimes show recaps of the other series..

Hows about another poll:
All those who think that stan does a smashing job and will not let us down post 'YAY'
All those who think they want to talk about it forever post ' I'm a Geek'
I'd be more than happy to let Stan pick the best out and go with it, he does a top job every time.

Re: TCC on Motors TV - Aired Lobby Poll - PLEASE READ.
THIS is what we should be showing on TV!! TORA is about more than trophy's and sometimes the personal victories are worth so much more, To tell the FULL story we HAVE to look outside of A-Lobby.TORA Handbook 2013 wrote: The actual winner is the true sportsman/woman that might go home with nothing in his/her hands, yet his/her heart is overflowing with satisfaction. This satisfaction comes from understanding that the value of winning is not found in a trophy, but rather in the sheer pleasure of playing the sport with honesty, fairness, and integrity. This affords total fulfillment during times of introspection, and validates that fulfillment by earning valuable respect from fellow competitors.
Re: TCC on Motors TV - Aired Lobby Poll - PLEASE READ.
Stan and the team will no doubt do a great job of this.
I'm sure that every lobby will feature one way or another and look forward to seeing it. I simply want us to market to the widest possible audience in the sense of attracting as many new people to TORA as possible.
I hope this weeks races bring as much fun as the first because the TCC is just awesome

Re: TCC on Motors TV - Aired Lobby Poll - PLEASE READ.
Well if the point of the poll was to ask the community for a consensus of opinion, then listen to the poll. Even though only 11% of drivers who raced made the A lobby, 62% of voters want one of the 'all A lobby' combinations to shown, including the professional commentator who will be commentating on the races. And this is a poll of people who understand TORA, virtual racing, lobbies etc, repeat that poll with the 'target market' of Motors TV viewers and I'd be willing to bet it would be a lot higher than 62% - it's difficult for people who haven't raced to get their heads around the fact that multiple lobbies race at the same time, as part of a larger race.
I watched Round 5 of the TORA GT on Motors TV with a non-gaming friend who likes motorsport, when it got to the second race (Lobby E) he was confused as to what was being shown. To paraphrase:
"Are you in this race?" No.
"So you missed this round" No. I was racing in the A lobby, this is the E lobby.
"So these guys are further back" Yes
"So why can't I see you too". Because they race in a different lobby, but at the same time.
After the race
"So that guy didn't win then?" Sort of. He won his lobby, but he finished 60th overall.
"Why did they show that, I wanted to see the winner of the race". Well he did win, but it was a different part of the overall race.
"Oh. I wish they'd shown A lobby instead".
My point is, we're looking at this from the wrong point of view. The 100 or so people taking part in the TCC are not the target market - 10,000+ motorsport viewers and possible future gamers/virtual racers are the target to aim for. Showing a championship on TV should be the whole championship battle, which for me, means every race from A lobby, as 62% of people here have voted for.
I don't agree with 1B however - showing a complilation of many other lobbies at the end of the race will turn into several minutes of boring results screens - in B lobby "A finished 1st, B finished 2nd, C finished 3rd etc etc, In C lobby "A won, followed by B followed by C" and so and so. That is incredibly boring TV, instead of having Jake read through lists of names from each lobby, get him to commentate on several minutes of RACING action from another lobby. That is why I voted for 1C - show a good battle, a snippet from another lobby, each race, in addition to lobby A. That's 18 possible opportunites to showcase a battle outside the A lobby. Another consideration is on-screen graphics - Motors TV has a very low resolution and bit rate (720x576) - on-screen graphics look terrible, blocky and difficult to read. Having pages and pages of results for each different lobby will look awful, it's a waste of expensive TV airtime - show VAMR Wilson and BG Beanz (or whoever has a good battle) in the B lobby for 2 minutes instead, that's what casual viewers would rather see.
Also, for Stan it is easier to have the full A lobby races (3x15 mins) each round, and then ask the community to suggest a 3 good battles from each round, then he can simply capture another 2 minutes of footage from that replay (which could be from B, C, D, E, F, G lobby etc) and edit that in, without creating yet more titles, graphics, results screens as well.
Finally, this is an opportunity to push TORA and virtual racing into eye of the mainstream motorsport fan, surely we can't risk messing that up by confusing people, showing a random collection of races from different lobbies. If people want that, then it should just be called TORA TV and show highlights from all different series we race. This is the MSA TORA TCC Championship coverage, and that is what it should focus on, the battle for the championship from the starting grid of round 1, race 1 to the flag in round 6, race 3. Don't underestimate the time and effort that it takes for any driver to make it into the A lobby each week - and it won't be the same 14 drivers each week, I think the GT championship had around 30 different drivers make it to A lobby at some point during the season.

Boom, you got it.
This is exactly what I was going to do with 1B. In no way was I going to make 2 mins worth of tables (It takes a long time to fill them all out anyway), but it would be more of some highlight footage from other lobbies while Jake talks about what happened ("Meanwhile in Lobby C, DRIVER X took a surprising lead with a race-long battle with DRIVER Y and finished 1st in lobby, 30th overall.")CQR MAGiC wrote:I don't agree with 1B however - showing a complilation of many other lobbies at the end of the race will turn into several minutes of boring results screens - in B lobby "A finished 1st, B finished 2nd, C finished 3rd etc etc, In C lobby "A won, followed by B followed by C" and so and so. Re: TCC on Motors TV - Aired Lobby Poll - PLEASE READ.
That sounds excellent Stan - I thought from the description that 1B was going to be a compilation of other lobbies, but if it showcases a good battle for a couple of minutes from another lobby then that's even better

Magic.... I agreed in advance of your postPLOW tubbi wrote:real life would dictate AAA all the way through with highlights of other lobbies.
by highlights I mean good clean battles with examples of great driving skill displayed with a couple crashes thrown in for the gore monsters.
this would then be presented like a true to life ' virtual ' show.
oh..... can we get cortney from big brother to present it for us....instant ratings tit....erm sorry HIT.
Any news on Courtney?
