TORA 12 Hours of Nurburgring Rules and Regulations
Welcome to the 2013 TORA Endurance Championship - the ultimate test of teamwork on Forza Motorsport 4.
The fifth event of the year is the TORA 12 Hours of Nurburgring which takes place on the weekend of the 14th and 15th of December 2013.
The race will start at 8PM GMT on Saturday the 14th and end at 8AM GMT Sunday the 15th.
Teams can consist of up to 4 drivers. Ideally you want the full four to make the 12 hours less challenging on yourselves and your consoles. Teams must drive in the same car throughout the event. If any team members switch into different cars throughout the race then their session will not be counted in the team's overall distance.
Drivers Championship
Each round of the TEC will score towards the overall Drivers Championship. Drivers will gain points for where their Teams finish overall.
Team Championship
Each round of the TEC will score towards the overall Teams Championship. Teams must use the exact same name throughout the entire TEC to continue scoring points. If a Team name change occurs for the next round then this will be classed as a new Team and will not tally up with the previous round. Drivers are not forced to race in the same team for the entire year, they may change out when required. Cars will be affected by the rules below.
Car Choice
Silverstone and Nurburgring will also share the same Car List - albeit different from Sebring and Le Mans - and the same rules will apply. Teams that choose a car for Silverstone must use the same Car for Nurburgring. Teams may break apart to change cars for Nurburgring after Silverstone, however this Team will be seen as a new Team and will not be allowed to continue scoring points for the TEC Teams Championship, PI will remain the same from Silverstone to Nurburgring for 2013.
Teams may also carry over name from community ran race 4 which will be included to the championship
There will be 0 Car Caps but due to lobby restrictions class caps will be in force
28 cars in each class
56 total cars
Race Rules
The race will be split up into six stints that will last two hours. Each stint will be competed by one driver from each team, so you will not be racing on track with your team mates during the event. Driver changes take place when the stint is over at the 2 Hour mark, where we will then go back into the lobby and the drivers and lobby hosts will change over. At this point the host will enter the distances covered by the drivers into the database which will be combined for the final results at the end of the race. The race will be scored on "distance driven" where bigger is better. Driver must stop where they are on track at the end of each stint for their distance to be recorded by the Lobby Host. To accommodate for the stint changes a 15 minute turnaround will be applied for 'a pit stop with driver change simulation' so in reality the stints only last 1 Hour 45 Minutes. The final stint will be a similar to the previous stints, however the timer will be extended to the full two hours. When 2 hours is reached all drivers will stop where they are on track and give their covered distance to the Lobby Host. Once this is recorded the field will then cruise round to the start line to finish the lap they are on - this is only for TV purposes and not how the race will be scored.
There will be one mandatory pit stop per session.
The first stint will start under a Rolling Start following standard TORA procedures. The lead car will take the grid around at 80mph Maximum and will then slow down to 60mph for the last section of track where the cars will line up 2x2 in their qualifying order. For the remainder of the stints, the gird will be set by doing 1 lap around Camino Mini. [*Ignore -
Safety cars will not factor into the race as the entire event is based upon your endurance. If there is a crash you will have to recover and continue to the end of your stint and deal with any damage that you pick up. This should be incentive enough to stay out of the wall. Damage will be set to Limited to replicate fuel and tyre wear.
Qualification for this event will be held throughout the week leading up to the weekend. Each qualification round will last 45 minutes and drivers will not be allowed to use the sessions as a practice. The team will qualify as a whole, so out of the 4 possible times that could be set by the entire team then the best time will be taken. For example, if Driver 3 sets a better time then Driver 1 then Driver 3's time will be taken as the best time. Each driver may only compete in one qualifying session. There will be lobbies hosted throughout the week to accommodate racers in European time zones and American time zones.
*However due to comments and feedback from previous races we will scaling back Friday qualification so race lobbies and hosts will be briefed.
Settings
- Collisions will be set to off during all Qualifying sessions.
- Collisions during all races will be on.
- Damage will be set to limited.
- TCS, Driving Line and Normal/Simulation Steering are the only allowed driving aids that may be used. ABS, STM, Auto-brake and Auto-gears are prohibited. Manual gears must be used but it is up to the competitor if they wish to use the clutch or not.
Livery Requirements
- Its not offensive
- It doesn't include any direct tobacco sponsorship
- It has sponsors
There will be mandatory Numberboxes for the TEC in 2013, and these will be distributed when requested in the Livery Thread.
Car Numbers
Each competitor in the team must be registered with TORA and have a TORA Race Number. This is for admin purposes only. The number that is displayed on the car during the 12 Hour event must be one of the competitors TORA numbers who is present within the team. Whichever driver's number the team uses is up to you.

Re: TORA 12 Hours of Nurburgring Rules and Regulations
Is there any way at all we could adjust the no double stint rule.
The optimum way to do this race is 3 guys doing a double stint each.
The no double rule impairs this and if it could be pushed back 1 stint so no doubles between 4&5 it would make it easier for many teams im sure. Trying to work out who subs for who in an emergency etc when you cant double and nor can the subs is quite tricky to work out.
I hope this could be considered

Re: TORA 12 Hours of Nurburgring Rules and Regulations
For my team ( if i can get a team together) it is not ideal to do 3 double stints, when the starting time is 8 gmt.
But maybe i overlooked it, i didnt see that there are not double stints allowed....

Re: TORA 12 Hours of Nurburgring Rules and Regulations
It is at the bottom of the rules post above,
So far it has not been adjusted for the new start time which is yet to be confirmed.
I think it's unlikely that the time of the "no double stint in between middle stints" rule will get adjusted but I have to ask before sorting out the stints with my guys.

Re: TORA 12 Hours of Nurburgring Rules and Regulations
Yes, i see it. For my team it would work between the 3rd and 4 th stint.
I get in trouble ( might not even can make a team than). If it is between the 4th and 5th stint.
Well lets just wait and see what happens.

Re: TORA 12 Hours of Nurburgring Rules and Regulations
I have no idea what the bonus is about, but I believe the double stint rule has been mentioned and I think will be removed but not sure, since half the stints are gone now.
Still, I have no idea what the bonus rule means lol, will ask and find out for you.

Re: TORA 12 Hours of Nurburgring Rules and Regulations
The bonus rule is to prevent sandbagging. Really easy for an intermediate drive to get the same distance hotlapping as an A lobby driver battling for position all stint.

Re: TORA 12 Hours of Nurburgring Rules and Regulations
I know where the rule is coming from, but I also think it is not fair to the slow drivers( with all the respect).
I only think you have to make clear before an event what the rules would be.
That way you will reduce the discussion afterwards.

Re: TORA 12 Hours of Nurburgring Rules and Regulations
We should have kept the no double stinting in the middle, 12 hours is still bad enough if we have any delays.
Re: TORA 12 Hours of Nurburgring Rules and Regulations
From experience of running enduro's like this the no double stint in the middle in genius.

Re: TORA 12 Hours of Nurburgring Rules and Regulations
From experience, there will be delays in any enduro format. No matter how well it is run, there is bound to be delays.Richy59 wrote:We should have kept the no double stinting in the middle, 12 hours is still bad enough if we have any delays.
As far as double stints, try putting together a team of three drivers from three different continents. Regardless what the start/end times are its bound to create a need for three double stints.
Re: TORA 12 Hours of Nurburgring Rules and Regulations
I agree on keeping the double stints. It worked very well with Silverstone, and I'd rather not have any big delays when dedicating most of a Saturday to racing. I understand that teammates can live in different time zones and it can be a conflict but having a point midway through the 12 hour race with no double stints can keep everything on schedule. The teams can either add a fourth for one part of the race or figure out another way (which seems very doable).
I'm completely fine with not having this rule, just wanted to give my two cents.

Re: TORA 12 Hours of Nurburgring Rules and Regulations
If the no double stint rule comes back then please make it on the 8 hour mark rather than 6, It will make it easier on 3 man teams in my opinion
With so many teams stints already set it will be a nightmare trying to rejig drivers and also responsibilities at home for me personally

Re: TORA 12 Hours of Nurburgring Rules and Regulations
Phew, Thank you Duncan for clarifying.
I saw the last few posts bringing it up again and just wanted to put my 2c in
The awkward part of the rule is when you try to set up subs in case of connection failures.
Its quite tough to make sure a secondary driver can be ready to support with the double stint as we found out at le mans
Looking forward to the Nurb12, Last years N8 was what attracted me to Tora in the first place thanks to Trash posting it over on our Forum, This year has flown by
