MSA TORA TASCAR - Season 4 - Rules and Regulations
General Rules & Driving Etiquette
TASCAR racing, as defined by TORA, is a non-contact sport. It is understandable that on occasion some contact may occur that is not expected by either party, for example due to lag. Competitors with 'lag' issues will not be penalized, but may be asked to improve their connection, if the issue is persistently hindering other's experiences please see connection section.
TORA expects competitors who partake in its championships and meetings to behave in an appropriate and respectable manner. Insulting comments or behaviour towards fellow competitors and race stewards is unacceptable and will be dealt with severely.
Competitors who are being followed on a straight part of a track by another car may move their position on the track ONCE to defend, any further sufficient movement outside of cornering will be deemed as weaving and you may be reported to the race director or head steward after the race.
If a competitor leaves the track at any time, it is advised that extra caution is taken not to impede other drivers when rejoining, please check and look before rejoining the track. Common courtesy stipulates that a driver in a dangerous position on the circuit should alert oncoming drivers of their position to avoid additional incidents.
Track Limits
The track limits are determined by the solid white lines either side of the track. At all times, two wheels must remain on this part of the circuit, unless of an occurrence where it is near to impossible to keep two wheels on the track, like avoiding a collision.
The track limits must be adhered to in the event of gaining an advantage whilst having an on-track battle. If a driver overtakes a driver by getting all four wheels off the track, the driver must give that position back before they may continue the race. If the driver which was overtaken backs off heavily either through incident or "mechanical" failure, then the position will not need to be given back.
TORA TASCAR - Season 4 (2014 Season)
The TORA TASCAR 2014 Season will be ran over 12 Race Meetings, Starting May 2014. The Series will have 2 Championships up for Grabs.
DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP
This will be a championship fought by each driver for themselves. The amount of points at the end of each race meeting will go towards the overall points total. This championship is for All drivers.
TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIP
A team will be made up of 3 drivers, all driving the same car. This championship will be scored by the total points score for the top 2 team drivers from each Race Meeting over the course of the championship.
TASCAR Cars
Tuning Restrictions
As per Season 3, there will be NO restrictions to the tuning aspect to these cars
Race Rules
Bump Drafting
- Bump Drafting may only be allowed at the Sunset Oval rounds. Make sure the driver(s) you are in a group with know of your intentions to bump draft, be it the lead car or the 'pusher'. Also, "SLAM" Drafting will be deemed illegal and could be penalized. by Definition, SLAM Drafting is where the following car gets such a large run on the car ahead and gives a forceful push to the car ahead. With the Forza 4 physics, these types of hits will easily damage both drivers' vehicles, so it's in each drivers' best interest to know when and when not to draft one another.
Safety Car/Caution Rules
When The Safety Car is Used
The Safety Car will be deployed when Two or more drivers are involved in an incident and severely impairs their progress. Only driver(s) involved in an incident may request the Safety Car to the Lobby Captain. A Safety Car can be called up to the penultimate lap of the race. Once the leader has crossed the line to start the Final Lap, the caution/Safety Car cannot be called.
Forming a Safety Car Period
When the Safety Car period is agreed upon, and goes into effect, the Lead Driver at the time of the Safety Car 'Call', will act as the Safety Car and pace around the track at the track's designated 'pace' speed. All will form in single-file. SEEING THE STOCK CARS DO NOT HAVE BRAKE LIGHTS, PLEASE DO NOT SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN. THIS WILL CAUSE CHAOS. PLEASE JUST LET OFF THE THROTTLE AND FORM UP CAREFULLY!!!
Conduct During a Safety Car Period
While under the Safety Car period, Those involved in the incident should line up at the back of the grid. All competitors are free to pit under the Safety Car/Caution period, but must form back up in order when they left pit lane at the back of the grid. Once Everyone has rejoined the field, the field will line up Side-By-Side in the positions they are currently in. Once the Leader has passed the Final Corner, he can call out the restart by counting down "3..2..1..Go/Green."
Lucky Dog Award
The Lucky Dog Award is used under Caution/Safety Car periods only. The first person 1 lap behind will be awarded the 'Lucky Dog' to get back on the Lead lap, and allowed to pass the lead cars under caution and lining back up at the back of the field. The drivers involved in the incident that brought out the current Safety Car/Caution period, are not eligible for the 'Lucky Dog'.
-"Green-White-Checkered"
The "Green-White-Checkered" rule takes effect when a Safety Car/Caution is called on the penultimate lap. the Final Lap will end under caution in present order each driver is in at the time of caution. Once all drivers are back to the main lobby, the race settings will change to 3 laps, for the Green-White-Checkered attempt. One the 1st lap, will be to form up in order drivers finished the 'Scheduled Distance.' Lap 2 & 3 are green flag laps. If there is an incident on the first green flag lap, the safety car/caution Can be called, and the 3rd lap in this 'attempt' will end under caution, and once everyone gets back to the main lobby, We will have another "Green-White-Checkered" attempt. 3 Attempts are the maximum. As stated above, Once the Leader crosses the Start/Finish line to start the Final Lap, The Safety Car cannot be called.
Race Restarts
The race lobby is subject to One restart attempt if more than 50% of the lobby is involved in a major incident within the first lap. Everyone will head back to the race lobby, and try again, forming up the same as the grid formation before. if another major incident occurs, standard Safety Car rules take effect.
Race Meeting Set-Up
We ask that all competitors are on Xbox live 15 minutes prior to the start of the race meeting, and appear online. Where necessary, if each competitor could post "In" in the relevant race meeting thread on the TORA forums. Anyone who wishes to race without posting "In" will need to wait for the race meeting organizers confirmation before being allowed to race. Certain factors may come into account, such as if there are 16 people racing, and one person who hasn't posted in would cause a split lobby of 9 and 8 in each lobby, in decision making for those not posted in before the event.
QUALIFYING
Qualifying will be held at 9:30pm BST (4:30pm EDT), apart from any driver who is experiencing connection issues. Qualifying will start no later than 10 minutes after the 'bottom of the hour'.
Settings
Qualifying will be set to 4 laps. One Out-Lap, 2 "Flying laps", and one IN-lap. Once You have started Lap 4, please stop at a designated spot on the track so lobby host(s) can take down lap times. "Clean" laps take Priority of Dirty laps. So Make them Count!
-Oval Races
Everyone will line up on the apron of the track (or in front of Pit-exit), and TWO Drivers will go at a time, but in a staggered roll-off style. Meaning, 'Driver A' will go first, then 'Driver B' will go after a certain number of seconds have elapsed on the Race Timer. Once both drivers have completed their qualifying runs, the next two drivers can start, following the same process.
(i.e.: if 'Driver A' starts at x:35.000, then Driver B will start at x:50.000)
-Road Course
--For Road Courses, There will be a roll-off delay between cars to give clean air to get a lap in
- Damage will be Set to Limited unless noted, Collisions set to OFF
- **Silverstone National being the shortest Road Course event, Oval Race Qualifying procedures are in effect there**
- ABS, STM, and TCS and locked off. Manual Transmission (Clutch is optional), Steering and Driving Line are up to the individual.
RACE
The Race Lobbies will open once Qualifying results are taken and sorted, so be prepared to get lobby invites at any time after Qualifying has wrapped up!
-For Oval Races, There will be TWO 50-lap segments to cover 100 total laps, Unless noted.
-For Road Course Races, There will be a set number of laps for the event, +1 lap. one extra lap for the Formation/Pace Lap.
Rolling Start
Competitors will form up behind the Safety Car to start the Formation/Pace Lap in a 2-by-2 fashion. The Pole Sitter will have choice over which side of the Grid to start on. We ask all drivers to listen to the lobby host for the pace speed and grid order. Once everyone is in position, And the Lead driver(s) pass the Pit Entrance, The person on pole for the given lobby can begin the 3-2-1 countdown when he/she desires.
Mandatory Pit Stops
There is 1 mandatory pit stop in each race (or race segment). Taking your pit stop under a Safety Car/Caution period will count as your Mandatory pit. You may not pit within the first 5 laps or last 5 laps of a race or race segment (First 3 or Last 3 laps at Old Mulsanne layout of Le Mans due to lower lap count.)
Settings
- Collisions will be set to ON, and set to Limited Damage, Unless noted
- ABS, STM, and TCS are locked off for this series. Manual Transmission (Clutch is optional), Steering and Driving Line is up to the individual.

If you're running a copy of the "60" Grainger car, maybe you should run 06?

I feel it would be in everyone's best interest to know that bump drafting in the turns is a very bad idea. Not sure if there should be a rule against it per se, but its an easy way to ruin the race for all parties involved.
A good rule of thumb is to lift just enough to no longer be pushing when you get to the turn.
Re: MSA TORA TASCAR - Season 4 - Rules and Regulations
indeed, bump drafting in the corners can leads to dire situations. even NASCAR back with the "Gen 5" car(s) had issues with bump drafting through corners...
From personal experience, in the 2010 TORA "Stock Car" championship season, at round 1, i got bump drafting help from Chris (Aero) coming out of turn 4 (to the left rear portion of the rear bumper) getting myself loose, but i never let up, kept it from hitting the outside wall, but eventually t-boned the pit wall with the passenger side of the car.
