F1 2013 Race night- Thursday 1st May; A Tribute to Senna
May the 1st, 1994, San Marino, Italy.
The day after the death of Roland Ratzenberger, Ayrton Senna, one of, if not the worlds, greatest Formula 1 drivers past, present and that will ever be, died after heavy contact with the wall of Tamburello at 145 miles per hour, causing serious brain damage, causing for an immediate air lift to hospital where he later died, aged 34.
Many people have different views on Ayrton Senna and his driving in the 10 years he was in F1. Some believe he played dirty tricks to win championships (such as the 1989 and 1990 Japanese Grand Prix's), and that the statistics show him as the 3rd most successful driver of all time.
To me however, and many others, he was the greatest Formula One driver of all time. Famous for his 1 lap qualifying runs, giving him a record of more than 60 Pole positions in his career. He had the ability to find grip where no one else could, he was sensational in the wet, and off the track, he was one of the biggest hearted racing drivers previously, current or on the way. To me Ayrton Senna was the textbook model of what a racing driver should be, and what racing was about.
Although I did not grow up watching him race Live, being born the year after he died, watching him race on recordings from dad, he model me to who I am today, he is my all time hero, and one of the men I look up to the most, even if his time has passed he has had a greater influence on my life, than most people I know (excluding parents).
And now I am all upset after writing that, I will get down to the point of this post.
On Thursday, the 1st of May, at 9 pm BST, I will be hosting an F1 tribute night.
It will consist of two 25% distance races in the 1990s cars on F1 2013.
The first race will be at Sao Paulo, Brazil, the birth country of Aytron Senna,
the second race, will be at Imola, Italy, the resting place of the great man.
It would mean a lot if you guys could make it to the race, it will be great fun, and a great way to pay our respects to a great man
Thanks guys

I find that you had a wonderful idea to honor the memory of such a great man and driver.
I'll be there for sure.
