Racing Nostalgia
This doesn't seem that long ago, and then I remember it was 15 years ago. I was 5. Remember when Irvine and Salo drove for Ferrari?

Re: Racing Nostalgia
You swine Plunkett! You do realise I have to bombard this thread with everything that I've got...
But to begin with, spare a moment for Jacarapegua.
Internagos may have been the traditional F1 venue as far back as the mid-70s, but in those days, it didnt matter where the national GP was.
Mansell won first time out here in 1989 in the unexpectedly reliable (on the day) Ferrari 640 (it would have issues throughout most of the season), the first time I saw a Grand Prix start, (my first exposure to f1 was inadvertantly switching BBC2 on at around 4-5pm sunday to see Mansell overtake Piquet at silverstone in 1987), it was also the last time F1 would be there.
CART invaded in 1996 when Brazilian TV Ratings for the series were higher than in F1. An oval of sorts, but still steeped in a road course philosophy.
And anyone with an original xbox circa 2004-5 will no doubt have played Moto GP 2 on xbox live, and circulated the course in its most recent form.
It's going to be the olympic villiage in 2016, so best of luck to them

Re: Racing Nostalgia
As Mikey knows, im really into the history of NASCAR and watch way too much of it, especially from the 80's & 90's when the only way to watch it in the UK, was travel across the Atlantic to watch it. Its also why im a YouTube addict and strangely, i watched this race just this week with it being Sonoma this weekend which replaced Riverside.
From 1983, so just a year later, the full race with the added bonus of the adverts included which are almost as bad as the Jeff Hammond tasche.

Re: Racing Nostalgia
I've been watching old CART/Champ Car/Indycar races on youtube lately. I recently completed watching the entire 1991 and 1992 seasons, both of which went down to the final race for the title. Just got started on 1993, when Mansell (who famously "retired from F1") replaced Michael Andretti (who famously flamed out at McLaren and didn't even comlete one season).
While Mansell is an obvious talent in his rookie Indycar season, Michael Andretti actually dominated the field the previous two years with the same car. He would have been one of the series greatest back to back champion if not for a few mechanical failures while using a brand new Ford/Cosworth engine in 92. I wonder what might have been if Mansell and Michael were both driving for Newman Haas in 93.
EDIT: yes, it's the same car in my sig. I did a livery in FM5.
