Re: TCR Ute Pro Cup Media
I have always heard "Its good to go out on top", but seeing as I was on my top as time expired yesterday, it wasn't so good.
Re: TCR Ute Pro Cup Media
I finally made a race and even more amazing, i actually finished it!! The Final Round of the 'Brutes In The Utes' and Le Mans lay in wait, fourteen laps around the Old Mulsanne Circuit. Preparations for the event had been, well a wee lax in pretty much every department in the lead up to race. The build was a first attempt, that will do, which may explain why i was a couple of miles an hour slower on any straight bits, which in hindsight on the Old Mulsanne Circuit probably wasnt the best decision ever. I was happy with the tune and build through the twisty bits though.
Qualifying was going reasonably well, i had something even rarer than a Glaswegian with an education, i had a clean lap on the out lap. It didnt last as heading towards the braking point for Mulsanne, my six week old pup decided to introduce his new teeth to my elbow and to make matters worse, i didnt see him coming, it just happened, its safe to say that i missed my braking point, truth be told, i missed the brakes entirely and ploughed into the tyre barrier, which did produce a delightful pirouette and a mark of 5.4 from the judges busy laughing. Amazingly, i wasnt the only one having issues, and the out lap was good enough for fourth on the grid, which was to be led away by Champion Jabberwockies and PLOW Tubbi.
The start of the race saw the front two off to the races and setting up what appeared to be a potential duel to the death, well until Tetre Rouge when PLOW Tubbi decided that a light cream filled snack was required, followed by a spot of product placement, ArmorAll, its that good, you can roll an El Camino and it will still look like new!! Unfortunately he didnt see the small print that your truck may only do less than 150mph on straight bits.
That left Jabberwockies to seal the title with another win, myself and JRacer NL had a good few laps of racing, i pulled a gap through the twisty bits, he kicked my arse on the straight bits, the round of pit stops though gave the #82 truck the advantage, mainly there wasnt me in the way on every straight bit.
In other news, well Flyin Mikey J was showboating down the Mulsanne Straight, pulling wheelies in his Holden Chevy Ute, the rumours about him leaving his wallet in the trunk to gain a straight line speed, completely extinguished thanks to a very generous donation in a brown paper bag address to myself, unfortunately, being Scottish, the money wasnt quite enough to stop me showing a picture of a rather bad attempt at fulfilling his gamertag to the maximum as the wheel on the grass didnt go round and round, instead Flyin Mikey J was Flyin High In the Air.
A team mate is always your biggest rival, and Paul I-really-want-to-be-in-the-Red-Arrows 299 certainly took Flyin Mikey's aerial challenge very seriously, clipping the back of the #41 truck and having a moment that needed an emergency change of underwear as he somersaulted down the track towards Indianapolis like he was Nadia Comaneci (for the younger viewers amongst you, mainly in the UK, think a good looking Beth Tweddle and your in the right ball park!!)
That was that, a good bit of entertainment, the end of the series and judging by the general chat thread, the end of the Allied Forces Flyin Friday' Fun for the time being. As always, thank you to the organisers, lobby hosts and my make up department, all work hard and get nothing in return, just do it for fun!!

Brilliant write up Wheelwash, it was hilarious and it looks like nick-naming my car the Tea-Totaller became a self fulfilling prophecy and perhaps wasn't the wisest of ideas!!
Thank you again Zeta for supporting the series, shame it looks like this could be the last of Mikey's brilliant Friday night TCR events.

Awesome write up Wheelwash! Really enjoyed our head-to-head. Heading towards Indianapolis at half throttle because I knew I could not overtake you due to the two small kinks on that straight was actually quite funny for me.
