Ferrari Racing Days
I've had an idea for an online racing event with a twist. Instead of running one series (eg. GT, Touring Cars, DTM etc.), I would like to run an event that takes place over a day or perhaps even a weekend, much like a real racing weekend, where drivers can jump in and race in the events they are available for. This would take a lot of organising and would perhaps require help from the lovely members of the community. As far as I am aware there aren't any racing leagues like this available on Forza Motorsport 5, but I may be wrong.
The Ferrari 458 Challenge features a new aerodynamics package for 2014, including the introduction of a rear wing
As titled, the events would be all about one infamous car brand, Ferrari. I have taken inspiration from the Ferrari Racing Days events which happen every year as part of the Ferrari motorsport calendar. Just a couple of weeks ago I ventured out to Silverstone to watch a weekend of great Ferrari action, where there are a wide variety of cars to view both on and off the track. In the paddock there were a collection of almost 500 Ferrari's, owned by members of the UK Ferrari Owner's Club to look at. They even took part in an on track parade, in a tribute to the successful world record attempt they completed two years ago at Silverstone, where 964 Ferrari cars paraded around the track in one go! On the motorsports front, there was action from the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli and Coppa Shell series', races in the UK Pirelli Ferrari Open, along with private practice sessions from the high-speed laboratories that are the FXX and 599XX cars. The highlight of the weekend was watching the collection of historic Formula 1 cars from the F1 Clienti, pounding round the track in cars ranging from the V10 powered F2005, to the more recent V8 cars from 2007 and 2008.
Ferrari F1 Clienti Programme test at Spa Francorchamps, including a 2006 liveried Schumacher car, followed by two 2012-based liveries
I would like to replicate this in a series of events throughout the year which captures the magic of Ferrari. Either run throughout the day on a Sunday, or even running as a weekend event, events could see many different cars lap some of the best tracks on Forza 5, while championship races add drama and excitement to the weekend too! A race programme of events would be timetabled well in advance of an event so drivers could plan which events they can and cannot attend.
Events that could be run:
- Ferrari 458 Challenge
- XX Programmes (599XX and FXX Private Practice Sessions)
- F1 Clienti (Ferrari 312T F1 car as well as potentially running Lotus E21 with authentic Scuderia Ferrari liveries)
- Ferrari Open - (Multiclass event) 458 GT2, 458 Challenge, 430 Challenge, 360 Challenge
- GTC Series - (Multiclass event) Class 1: F40 GTC, F50 GTC; Class 2: F430 GTC, 575 GTC, 360 GTC
The 599XX is based on the 599 GTO, while the FXX is based on the Ferrari Enzo. Both are built to the same or very similar specs in terms of power, weight, tyre widths etc.
There is a large list of potential events which could easily fill a weekend. You may note that most of the cars listed above will need to be race prepared with upgrades as none of them are available on Forza 5 (even though lots of them were on the previous version of Forza Motorsport). Despite this I have already started preparing some of the cars.
Events would take place throughout the year at several different tracks like with the real Ferrari Racing Days, tracks such as Silverstone, Spa, Barcelona and Abu Dhabi. This is a very different approach to an online racing event but one that I think will work. I would just like to gauge interest to see whether people would be up for something like this, and also of those who are interested, who might want to help out with hosting if this were to get off the ground.
Re: Ferrari Racing Days
Great idea and well put together.

Re: Ferrari Racing Days
Such a shame. I know you love Ferrari's so I was wondering if you would find this post. If ever you switch, be sure to come take a look Brad.ErebusV8 wrote:Same

Thanks Sam!
Hopefully I can find consistent work soon to save for it
If it's recorded afterwards and 'televised' I'll be in!

I'd like to do that so I'll see what can be done!ErebusV8 wrote:Thanks Sam!

Wow, that would be great! I don't have any method for streaming at the moment and I'm not entirely knowledgable on the matter, so I'd need helpBG Chucky 82 wrote:Could get it on to TORA TV

The cars, the classes and important information about the events:
For each of the different race series', there are numberboards. However due to the inability to gift vinyl groups on Forza Motorsport 5, they have been made to be simple so can be copied easily. They will also be placed on my storefront for those who wish to use mine as a template to copy over.
Ferrari Challenge 458 Trofeo
Info: 570bhp, 404 lb-ft torque, 2,704lbs, rear wing, no front splitter
All writing and numbers on this numberboard are in 'Letters 7' in the Forza 5 vinyl shapes.

Ferrari Open
Four different cars competing in their own separate classes, from the 458 GT2 cars, to various versions of Challenge cars.
What will make this series great? Even though the 458 GT class will be clearly ahead of the rest of the field, the three challenge classes are all pretty evenly matched, so although they are racing in different classes, could still be battling each other out on track!

Re: Ferrari Racing Days
Ferrari GTC Trofeo
Older machinery fight on track between two evenly matched classes.
What will make this series great? Races will be longer events, so pitstop strategy will come into play. Also the faster class will inevitably have to lap the slower cars over this longer race, so could see some great action. In the second class, cars have different strengths and weaknesses so the type of track may prove a deciding factor in which cars and drivers win certain races.

The numberboard is just a circle. For class 1, the circle is white. For class 2, the circle is black. Numbers are in 'Letters 1' in the Forza 5 vinyl shapes. Number can be any colour, as long as it is visible within the circle.

Re: Ferrari Racing Days
Looking to try and run this series later on in the year. There's quite a lot of series on FM5 at the moment, so perhaps after Project Cars comes out, I'll look to start it then, perhaps as a TCR series.exp1osive sam wrote:Ferrari GTC Trofeo
