Story time!

PRE RACE

Going into the F4H Pro Endurance VLN24 Hours of the Nurburgring, Le Mans Rennsport was very new to Forza Motorsports 5. While members had made efforts under the team name prior, it was never something the core could really help with. LMR Red Dragon had won all 3 TEC events in 2014 on Forza 4, and now we were pitted against the last one of 2014; and it was on a new game. To raise the stakes even higher, David Hoch (The Bulin Wall5), and James Bishop (IBlueIJaBBRexI) for Le Mans Rennsport won the 6 hours of Laguna Seca the weekend prior, working with Chris Bell (HCR Bellmond), who would also be joining our 2nd entry for the VLN24. In the early stages of preparation, we were determined to have 4 drivers in each of our two Corvettes. The initial Red Dragon project by Alex Phillips (II ALEX P II) and myself was quickly joined by Darryl Crewe (l RickyTan l), and shortly later Geoff Boycott (LMR Boycotts). When the Blue Dragon project was derived, it consisted of Javier Gomez (LMR Panamera), Frazer Marshall (LMR Blackhawk), Chris Bell (HCR Bellmond), and Jay Steel (TJ Steel). Unfortunately, Frazer and Jay would have to drop from the entry due other commitments, which left Chris and Javi in a team needing 2 drivers. After days of search, we had a glimmer of good luck when Ivan Carranza (Xx VenomTDI xX) graciously agreed to join the Blue Dragon car. Darryl in the Red Dragon car then found he would not be able to race at night at all. What started out as bad luck, sparked the idea that would save the Blue Dragon entry. See, Darryl was going to work the night shift with me; unable to do that unfortunately made him useless to our car, as harsh as that sounds. It did however give us the perfect opportunity to move him into The Blue Dragon as the 4th driver. With Javi and Ivan set to work the night shift, Darryl would start the race, working with Chris in the early hours. This did made it tougher on the Red Dragon drivers; especially Geoff who was scheduled for a stint from 4-6AM. Never the less, we'd gotten the cars settled just in time, qualifying the Red Dragon on pole 2 seconds clear of the rivaling F4H Motorsport entry, with the Blue Dragon exceeding expectation to qualify 5th!

POST RACE

After 24 Hours, we were rich with new knowledge of Forza Motorpsorts 5, as well as success. The Red Dragon finished off 2014 sweeping every endurance it entered. The Blue Dragon was just as triumphant as the sister car, making it a 1, 2 finish overall for Le Mans Rennsport! We are very proud to say that for 24 hours, Red Dragon did not once deviate from our stint plan, while Blue Dragon only had to make one change. Despite the general feeling of satisfaction among the team, we were, and are still very new, and very hungry for racing on Forza 5. During the 24 Hours, I watched for issues that could be fixed by a different format of race. Due to the lack of features the game offers, the calculation of distance is very general and leaves for a wide window of inaccuracy. That was the first issue. The second one, came about only on two occasions during the race. Due to a very awkward number of entrants, there was one too many cars entered for the event to be run in one lobby. Mid way through the race, a car was retired, posing the opportunity to combine the lobbies into one. Both times this was attempted there was 15 people on track, and the lag ruined many peoples stints and caused for quite a toss up.
So, inaccurate progress and big lobbies don't work; right.

PRO GT

With nearly 3 months until the release of Project Cars, we didn't know what to pursue. What began as Alex Phillips and I bouncing ideas off each other, quickly turned into an organized plan, building upon knowledge from the VLN24, while merging the essence of endurance racing, with the very popular championship format TORA is known so well for. Originally titled as GT3 Endurance the three round series very quickly popped onto the scene only three weeks before Round One was set to begin. This left us little time to again, organize our entries, tune the cars, as Blue Dragon has opted to move to the M3. In addition we were now faced with organizing everything for the series start up and round one, as well as balancing the cars to equally suit these specific tracks. But here we are; ready for round 1 as a team, and as a series!

We really want to welcome and thank everyone who has signed up to Pro GT. It is a new form of endurance race, so it is important for everyone to understand everything that will happen in each stint. Qualifying showed very fierce competition at the front, with a huge group of teams not far behind! And with that, may everyone have the best of luck, and exceed their own expectations while having a great time working together as a team.
