Hey everyone! I've thought of an Idea to start up a series, this is something that I believe has not been done to often, and I would like your thoughts. At the moment, this is just a concept.
TORA CTR (Climb The Ladder)
-Consists of 5 Seasons throughout the whole Series
-Each season lasts 1 month. (With roughly 4-5 race meetings per season)
-Series starts sometime in mid-late 2015 (TBD)
-Season 1: 125cc Shifter Karts
-Season 2: Formula Rookie (Formula Ford UK rules)
-Season 3: Formula Gulf 1000
-Season 4: Formula B (FIA GP2 World Championship)
-Season 5: Formula A (FIA Formula 1 Wold Championship)
-Each series would have their respective IRL rules and points system.
-Points would be a drivers championship only, and only regards the season, not the championship.
-However, we can get a prize involved for the whole series, with another championship scoring based off of participation, of which the people that are tied in the #1 spot at the end of season 5 are entered in a random drawing for the prize.
Setup example for lets say; Season 2

Nice Idea.
I did hear that only passwords for lobbies will only be available on PC, but that's not really an issue.

Re: So I have an idea to start up a series, I need your thoughts.
I've often wondered why TORA didn't have a ladder system for seasons, similar more to iRacing where you have to actually earn your way forward. Maybe even promotion and relegation.
Anyway, one challenge may be in part because some people genuinely enjoy racing in lower "classes" than in the higher ones (present company included). You might have people drop out as they get to higher classes, or not participate in the first couple seasons because of disinterest in the lower series. From a pool of say 30 interested participants, only half might be interested in doing the whole shebang.

Re: So I have an idea to start up a series, I need your thoughts.
This has been discussed so many times in the past, and while it seems like a cool idea to make the racing more authentic, we'd essentially be closing off most of the racing for new members because we assume they're not good at driving.Dominic Mako wrote:I've often wondered why TORA didn't have a ladder system for seasons, similar more to iRacing where you have to actually earn your way forward. In real life, the licensing/entry ladder exists only because of the limitations of the real world: safety (are they going to cause an accident in our super expensive race car?), physical limitations (there can only be up to 30 cars on track at a time due to the size of the grid/pits), and cost (can they even finance racing at such a high level?)
Meanwhile in the virtual world, no one can die, we can have as many lobbies as we have hosts, and it costs nothing (in-game) to run a car/team. If someone wants to trundle along at the back of the pack in a £2,000,000 LMP car then that's fine by us
Plus, if we were to have an exclusive series for top-ranking drivers, we'd need reliable hosts who are also top-ranking, and also enough hosts for other series for other ranks.
So yeah.... That's that A separate championship which includes it's own progression ladder does seem cool and is actually something I've thought about before. If people are interested and want to race in it then so be it

I'm interested in this if it goes ahead on ps4

It would be on the Xbone and under the TORA Community Events. Probably not going to start this up until sometime in late summer.

You would have me if we were going, Atom Cup, Ginetta GT4 Supercup, Blancpain Sprint then FIA WEC. I much prefer GT to single seaters.
