It begins here!!!!!
On the 8th May 2009 the legend is reborn as Star Trek is launched worldwide.
Having already had its premieres across the globe to, seemingly, unanimous support and applause.
For those not in the know the new Trek film (number 11) is essentialy a prequal to the Original Series (TOS) that brought together Kirk, Spock and McCoy in the original 5 year mission. That actualy only lasted three!
This film then charts territory not covered by 'canon' and includes the meeting of Spock and Kirk for the first time as well as Kirk taking command of the Enterprise from Chris Pike.... what happened to Robert April then? There is also Scotty, Sulu, Chekov and Uhura in there for good measure.
All the stuff we have seen from the film (not very much!) make sit look to be a fantastic regeneration for the franchise which is no bad thing. The CGI footage previewed is simply STUNNING and the new Enterprise is looking very good indeed.
The backstories seem like they are going to be covered quite well and the 'baddy' Nero, a Romulan with a severe chip on his shoulder and ALOT of tattoos on his face should be adding a dark streak to the film... one thig that be said of Romulans is that they are rarely uninteresting in their TV/Film appearances.
So then 08/05/09.... enjoy the re-imagining of a legend.

Re: 08/05.09
As you can tell I'm quite excited about it but I'm also interested just how many closet Trekkies we have
Re: 08/05.09
Simon Pegg = Scotty
That makes the movie right there
Not that big of a Trekkie, but I quite enjoyed Voyager and...Enterprise

Re: 08/05.09
Meh, didn't mind Star Trek. Used to watch the odd episode of DS9 and Voyager on Sky, although seen most of TNG thanks to BBC 2's 6pm slot in the nineties - God I feel old
I was always much more into Babylon 5. Yeah, it was cheap, and the dialogue was rotten at times, but it had a hell of a story, and I loved the space battles.
Recently, I've got into Doctor Who (after the whole Rose thing though, never watched that until I got BT Vision), Torchwood, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and BattleStar Galactica. I also really, really like Primeval - can't believe Cutter's gone.
Back on topic, I will probably watch the new movie at some point, but I'll wait till it's out on DVD. The only movie I am getting really, really excited about is TransFormers 2. That I can't wait for!

I used to watch Star Trek as a wee boy at around the age of 4-6, used to love it. Dont watch it though, although might be a good film.

Simon Pegg sells out once more to Hollywood...
Sells out? He was a boyhood Star Trek fan and got a phone call asking him to play Scotty. Its a bit of a no brainer if you ask me.

Re: 08/05.09
Have to say I think Karl Urban NAILS McCoy.
The intonation, the style...everything is spot on Deforest Kelley. Close your eyes and listen and he is soooo a younger version!
Fantastic
