Red Bull Dominates the British Grand Prix
It’s been an extremely exciting weekend for Formula 1 again, with what was possibly the last ever British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Red Bull had good reason for celebrating though with Sebastian Vettel and team mate Mark Webber securing 1st and 2nd place respectively. You’ll be able to see Webber race again in less than two weeks time at the Festival of Speed, where he’ll compete against fellow F1 drivers, including the championship leader leader Jenson Button, as well as Lewis Hamilton and Timo Glock. In all, six of the current-season F1 teams are scheduled to attend the Festival, including McLaren, Ferrari, Williams, Toyota and Red Bull, plus the new Brawn GP team.
Bikes Galore!
In recognition of the new-found strength of the World Superbike and World Supersport Championships, this year’s Festival of Speed will feature four current works World Superbike teams and a selection of top riders from both categories.
BMW Motorrad Motorsport, Kawasaki World Superbike R.T, Aprilia Racing, and Ten Kate Honda are all set to attend. Double World Champion Troy Corser will ride his BMW S1000R, Moto GP and WSB race winner Makoto Tamada will ride his Kawasaki ZX 10R, four-time 250cc World Champion Max Biaggi will ride his Aprilia RSV4, and Grand Prix and WSB race winner Carlos Checa will ride his Honda CBR1000RR. Stiggy Honda rider Leon Haslam will also be in attendance, riding an ex-Mick Grant Honda RS1000. Representing the World Supersport Championship will be former Grand Prix and now WSS front runner Garry McCoy and current championship leader Cal Crutchlow, both set to ride classic Grand Prix machinery.
In addition, Goodwood will also focus on 60 years of Motorcycle Grand Prix with a selection of magnificent machines from each era of the championship.
The calibre of riders is equally special. The three British stars of the future – Bradley Smith, Scott Redding, and Danny Webb - will line up with past masters such as Mick Doohan, Phil Read, and John Surtees.
Endurance racing machines will also feature heavily, in celebration of the main 2009 Festival of Speed theme ‘True Grit – Epic Feats of Endurance’.
Cult American TV Star Goes on the Rampage
American TV legend Jesse G. James will wow Goodwood fans in his Baja desert racing ‘Trophy Truck’ at the Festival of Speed (3-5 July).
In less than two weeks time larger-than-life television personality Jesse Gregory James will storm the 2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed behind the wheel of his wild Baja-style ‘Trophy Truck.’
The Jesse James truck will be familiar to millions of You Tube viewers around the world as the presenter of cult TV shows such as Monster Garage and Motorcycle Mania rampages across deserts and through houses. For the season finale of his latest US hit TV show Jesse James Is A Dead Man, the presenter recently set a new world land speed record for a hydrogen powered vehicle as he hit 199.7 mph at the El Mirage Dry Lake Bed in California.
Although his driving is expected to be marginally more sedate at Goodwood, James still promises to enthral the Festival of Speed goers with his exciting and unexpected antics behind the wheel of his sophisticated space-frame chassis truck. It will be a spectacle that few will have witnessed up close outside of the USA, and one that should stay in the memories of Festival visitors for many years to come.
In addition to hosting his fuel-filled television programmes, California-based Jesse James is the CEO of the cult custom motorcycle shop West Coast Choppers, as well as owner of the Cisco Burger restaurant, publisher of Garage magazine and head of the Chopperdogs fan club. He is also related to the famous 19th Century outlaw Jesse James.
Take a look at this taster of what you might expect to see Jesse and his truck get up to at the Festival.
Look to the Skies
As well as all the action on the ground at the Festival of Speed, there will be plenty of entertainment overhead as well.
On the Friday and Saturday, the Royal Navy Black Cats Helicopter Display Team will thrill us with their spectacular display, and the world-famous RAF Red Arrows will also entertain us on Friday and on Sunday too. Visitors to the show on Saturday will witness a breath-taking fly-by by the Eurofighter Typhoon. There will also be a replica of a 1909 Blériot. Designed by Louis Blériot, a French aviator, inventor and engineer, he completed the first cross-channel flight, receiving a prize of 1000 British pounds for doing so. Blériot is also credited as the first person to make a working monoplane, and was a pioneer of the sport of air racing.
‘Colin McRae Vision’ set for Festival of Speed
Colin McRae was a huge fan of the Festival of Speed, it was one of his favourite events in the motorsport calendar and his charity, ‘Colin McRae Vision’, is particularly pleased to be able to attend the event this year.
The new ‘Colin McRae Vision’ exhibition and merchandise unit will be on display at this year’s Festival of Speed, and will include a static display featuring one of the iconic cars from Colin’s phenomenal rallying career and a selection of official merchandise, which will be available for purchase, including books, clothing, shoes, career dvd’s and of course copies of the ultra successful game – ‘Colin McRae – DIRT’. You may even have the chance to try out your skills on one of the DIRT stages on a state of the art gaming station.
Colin chose the Festival of Speed for both the first public appearance of his own design concept competition car - the ‘Colin McRae R4’ - in 2006 and subsequently its competition debut on the Goodwood Rally Stage in 2007, just months before the tragic accident which claimed his life along with that of his young son Johnny and two family friends.
The charity’s attendance at the Festival will hopefully allow members of the public to see and understand more about the organisation that has been set up in Colin’s memory. The Charity is keen to engage with the public in order to explain the McRae family’s reasoning behind setting up the ‘Vision’ and to make people aware of forthcoming fundraising events and also to indicate how the funds raised are scheduled to be distributed and utilised. For further information about the charity, visit the website.

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed 2009
I will try to get one or two interviews at this event for Tora, but I am not promising anything. However I wonder if David Richards will be at the event again this year, because last year I saw him around the Subaru WRC car and repair tent.

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed 2009
Thanks for the comments, other then that here is the second preview:
Other then that, I will try to get the first part up within the next 1-2 weeks via my photography and photomode work topic.
----
Info why going through each shot is taking far longer, then previous events:
I shot 20GB worth of shots over two days, with each shot being taken in Raw. Which is about 15MB each. So on the whole I took about 1340 shots at the event.
Other then that, I will not be posting up every shot. But just the best ones.
Note: After I shoot in Raw, I have to convert to DNG before I can open them up in Photoshop.
