mazda mx-5 cup interest

Just want to see if people get interest to do a league with the mx-5 cup car

That is a common theme, and usually draws a good count too. I'd personally almost rather do a Gen-1 MX5 Miata Cup though, as that cute little car is being neglected.

I second this due to the amount of times the MX-5 Cup being used is almost silly.

Plus it has pop-up headlights and that cant be beaten.

Depending on the time it's run at I would be interested. It's not my favorite car in the bunch, but it can be fun to race.

All depends on the build/tuning rules. I've found that the MX5 Cup car, w/o tuning allowed, is more fun to race but less fun to drive by yourself. In default tune, nobody has the advantage of a good tune, everyone is fighting the same issues, but the racing is some of the closest I've ever had.

That being said, a good spec build on the gen-1 Miata can produce some fantastic racing. Loads of untunable "Sport" parts is key to boxing the whole field into a tight little pack. And pack racing in a Miata is as fun as it gets.

If you remember, we did several Miata cup series at VM. They were a lot of fun!

I never did them at VM, but did one here on 4, my first series I ever hosted. Raced some at VGN and Reddit and another smaller site that I cannot remember. Then raced one at VTCC a couple years back, and it was great fun.

Coot and I raced a couple of them at VM, they were a hoot actually!

I ran the MX5 Cup Car in the Community poll series in a Krystal Fox themed design. it was a wonderful small car which was mixed in with a V8 Powered Ford Transit and the mad and Fast Radicals

Sounds like this series needs to happen

I would be interested in this series.

Feeling super late to the party here, but I've urged a stock spec series for a couple of years now with no motion or interest. I'd be so strongly for this and it becoming an actual regular series - no BoP or arguing of BoP to be had.

So seems like this got nowhere with admins, which is about par. VBR - did you ever get an MX-5 Cup Car series or the Gen 1 series going?

I'm just here to hype the ongoing interest. I'd be down for this type of series!

If we can lock in the springs, roll bars, damping, and basically make it so the only adjustments are camber, toe, and caster, I'd certainly be down. It could be a lot of fun!
