Tech Help!!

Ok, so I had a genious idea....

I remembered I had a funky little techy thing which allows me to plug a red white and yellow thingy into my computermabobby, as I wanted to put my videos onto DVD to future proof them a bit longer. Fantastic.

My lovely idea was to plug my 360 into it and record replays to put on youtube but it only works in B&W?

Im sure its the NTSC PAL switch over, but no matter what program I use, and switch the properties to NTSC (as PAL gives a black screen) it doesn't work. The software I got only allows me to put it directly to DVD, Nero Vision freezes on me when its plugged into my USB, and Windows Movie Maker is the only thing that works, but only monocolours. I've tried the different colour settings, adjusting saturation, contrast and hue, but nothing is working.

I am quite tech minded I believe, but this one is past me. Any ideas?

ummm, Sony Vaio Laptop, XP, celeron 1.6G, 80GB, Intel Graph Accel 900 with 128MB.Mo Max (whatever that is)

Did you get it in the states?

No, neither the laptop nor the cable thing, but thats the only thing I can think of.

In PAL its a black screen, NTSC it shows the picture and sound, but only black and white

ah so its not the switch on the 360 lol...

This is on NTSC setting, PAL gives a blank Black screen.

Do you know make/model of the capture card you're using? I've seen some forum posts saying that if your card can only record PAL 50hz then you're going to be stuck in black and white.
I gather it worked fine with your DVD's though?

It did yes, nicely in colour and everything.

Its called "SmartDisk" thats all I know really. Came with the program "Quick2DVD". Oh well, we'll have to have a 1950's sumer event, and Ill record that. That way it'll be ok its in B&W

Thanks troff for the help, but no luck. I installed that thing as recommended, but there is no "secam_b" option on it.

How are others recording onto youtube, like TORA TV? Im lost
