LMP3!?

I have come across some interesting news, that some of you may be interested in, or might even know about (i doubt that) but upon a visit to a certain place, i have found out that there is to be an intention for a budget LMP class to be run in Europe and the States.

Unfortunately i can not reveal how i have come across this information and if anyone may have an idea, i would ask them to keep quiet.

The class may be running as a stand alone series initially, but there is plans to encorporate it into the LMS and ALMS as LMP3. Initial plans are to have a single supplier for all major components and i would speculate a limited aero package.

As i say this is information based on an 'idea' as present, however from what i have heard, we should expect to hear official news in the near future!

i think you mean LMP-challenge...at least thats what it's gonna be called here in ALMS...the boys in braselton have have been pretty interested in combining the LMP classes together to compete for the overall win rather than two different classes...

oreca builds the racecars and sells them for 380K

scott atherton has said himself he wants people to be able to run a LMP-challenge car for about 1 million dollars for a full season.

i think it's a bit unrealistic and we're getting into spec racing...but that brings up a whole different argument...but mostly it's a move aimed at keeping the series going until times get better and more manufactures enter...unfortunately sportscar racing has always been (and always will be) the domain of the old rich white dude...
