Leighton Chevrolet
After already competing in the 2006 and 2007 WTCC, Maurer motorsports were bought out by Ben Leigh and his English team. The move now sees a German based operations with extensive running being made in England. Also, the team then embarked on receiveing support from RML, the works Chevrolet team, where they turned to the Cobalt SS rather than the Lacetti to campaign for the TORA TCC, one of the toughest challenges the team has ever faced. With owner Ben Leigh behind the wheel, the team has small expectations for the rest of the season, as explained by Mr Leigh himself, "We may only be a small team running to and fro from Germany, but with the support of RML we really hope to have a car which is on the pace, and score regularly as we'll soon find out later when the car is driven in anger for the first time." Shortly before their debut in the practice session, the team are finalizing their livery and operating a photoshoot at Silverstone, where the car will be unveiled to the public for the first time.

Re: Leighton Chevrolet
And so, the sun has set on the first official running of the Leighton Chevrolet Team. The German team could not get competitive times and a couple of incidents ensued. We would like to apologise to Jiggly and to one of the PLOW drivers.
The team has continued working on set-up, geting the extra six horsepower to bring it up to 700 and could only manage a 52.4 in the private session.

Re: Leighton Chevrolet
Not a bad time at all
To be honest you picked a right arse of a meeting to join as this will probably be the worst.
Plus i can almost guarentee one of the Front running drivers will stuff it in a wall and end up back with us mere mortals which will make it hard.
But keep it up, your going well for a rookie and should keep up the good work
Good luck on race day!
PS: Results are up from Practice and i think you'l be pleasently surpprised.

Re: Leighton Chevrolet
And so, the sun has set on the first race meeting for Leighton Chevrolet and driver Ben Leigh. Qualifying went better than the team thought, qualifying at the tail end of the B lobby with a 51.9.
The first saw race saw alot of offs for others, but Leigh stayed on track to pick up a 4th place in the B lobby. A close battle with general ment that keeping the place wasn't easy however.
The second race was much the same. A close battle with Slider towards the end aswell. Another 4th place for the team was well recieved by the team back in Germany.
The third race, and the reverse grid, saw a disappointing off in the first corner, as Leigh tried to avoid a load of cars all trying to get through turn 1 safely. A steady rise through saw a 6th place, with very close battles with RaceLegend.
Overall, the team have bee celebrating a great debut in the series, and for the next race at Road Atlanta, a podium may be in reach, with the fast flowing track playing well to the straight line speed of the Cobalt.

Re: Leighton Chevrolet
DHL has become the latest sponser of Leighton Chevrolet. The German devision based in Bonn has signed a contract running until the end of the season with lead driver Ben Leigh. Their logos will adorn the roof and top of the boot of the car, replacing the German flag there.
A picture showing the roof sponsership of the car.

Re: Leighton Chevrolet
And so, the sun has set on Leighton Chevrolet's TCC experience. Lead sponser DHL withdrew their support for the team and driver Britracer has moved to Red Line Racers for the rest of the season.
Road Atlanta was dissapointing for the team, as we could only manage C lobby in Qualifying, the car not performing as well as hoped down the long straight. Race 1 saw a steady climb to 5th after battles with the Toyota Altezzas. Race 2, however, saw a slightly better achievement, 4th, fought through after spinning in avoidance of one of the Altezzas. Race 3 was EXTREMELY dissapointing for the driver, as a great first corner was ruined by Kurzheck smahing into his door, taking them both off in the process. A pit stop to repair ngine damage followed, and the race didn't pick up from there, a lonely 7th but a great 1-2 for sony erricsson nissan.
