Singapore 2008 - What do we do with the results?
Ok this for once isnt based on any F1 news but it could be soon.
Since The Results of the Formula One Singapore Grandpirx 2008 have now been effectively announced as fixed and therefore a false result, What do we do with that result?
Should we Just Remove Alonso from that result?
Should we discard the Whole result as the impact of this is practically imeasureable throughout the whole field, not just The one place occupied by the illegal Alonso? If so That would make Felipe Masa World Champion and not Lewis Hamilton!
Should Hamilton's Title be revoked if the result is nullified?
Should we leave it all Alone and let history stay unchanged?
I would love to hear people opionons on this!
(PS: This may be a case we soon see come out in the Wake of Nelsinogate so it could be VERY relevant soon)

Re: Singapore 2008 - What do we do with the results?
I think they may leave the results as Alonso winning as they have yet to be officially DQ'd from that race. Therefor Lewis will still be World Champ. Although Massa does now have a very good case to take it even further and try to get Alonso DQ'd.
I'm unsure. The hearing proved that they did cheat and tell Nelshino to crash but as I said I have yet to hear that Renault/Alonso's position doesn't count. They have stated that Alonso has been cleared of knowing nothing so maybe taht is what they are basing their decision on and let him keep the race win.

Leave it. the sport has had enough damage. if they drag it through the shi* any more it could be seriously bad for the sports image.
We keephaving political row after another lets get back to gentlemans racing and enjoy what was and should remain a very great sport!

Re: Singapore 2008 - What do we do with the results?
If all they did was to remove Fernando from the results then Lewis si still champ. Don't forget Massa had a terrible race there. Ferrari don't do traffic lights
He wouldn't benefit all that muc and to be honest I can't think of another situation where the results have been changed THIS far back. I mean what are we saying? If new evidence arose that Schumacher did in fact deliberatly crash into Damon at Adelaide would re recind the result adn make Damon Hill a double world champ?
I don't think so.

I don't think its fair to punish Fernando. Okay, so his win wasn't entirely above board, he still raced for two hours and finished first, plus he wasn't involved - as far as we know.
Leave it alone.

Re: Singapore 2008 - What do we do with the results?
A sign of the movement in the Ferrari camp that i predicted earlier?
Masa has come out and said that Piqets cheating cost him the championship and that suspect and fixed results in other sports Such as Football are annulled, as should the Singapore 2008 results and the championship should be his.
Heres the Article: http://www.planetf1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5599684,00.html
Could this be the beginging of a move by Ferrari?
Do you think he's right and the Results should be annulled?

As he finished out of the points all it would do is make Hamiltons win bigger!

He doesnt want Alonso removed from the results he wants the WHOLE race result to be annulled. (just like a fixed football match would be)
Re: Singapore 2008 - What do we do with the results?
More quality reporting from Planet F1...they missed the important bit.
Eitherway he wouldn't have even finished second last season if it wasn't for a few dubious stewards decisions in his favour too.
Massa added that he had consulted team lawyers who had not felt it worthwhile attempting to overturn the result and added that, in any case, he was not sure he would be comfortable with the word “champion” next to his name on his CV.
And Ferrari team principal, speaking from Suzuka ahead of Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix, said the team would not be looking to change anything now.
“It is not in our interest from a legal point of view,” he said. “We knew that the World Council – unfortunately, I have to say – did not have the power to change the result. It’s clear that certain things happened in that race which were not right and that we have paid a price for that. And Felipe, of course, has paid the biggest price of all.
“But we have never formally discussed the possibility [of trying to get the result overturned] because unfortunately the World Council cannot do it. We just have to accept it, just as Felipe has to accept that he could possibly have been world champion last year if Singapore had been a normal race.”
