i found that. Did a session last night and where on Motegi people were getting 1.57's, I was pushing my hardest and got a 2min!
660 should be enough because as found 670 could make it too fast.
Im sure the semi testing should equal everything
Re: Championship Discussion
Try driving it against anything but the TVR mate. Its a joke.

Re: Championship Discussion
Yeah the TVR isn't the quickest by a long way... is there an application form for more PI?

Re: Championship Discussion
Well the Porsche was too slow in comparison to the cars being ran on Wednesday, but it felt perfectly in line with the TVR's last weekend. So does that mean that the TVR needs looking at too? I think we're in for an interesting few weeks of testing.

Re: Championship Discussion
Leave the TVR alone. I have been testing and tuning it and it is fine. I am hoping our WWR team is changing from the corvette to the TVR. Look at the times I have posted in the Timings section. Do you really want me to go faster? Like I said the TVR is fine. The Pi is already 670.

Running out of cash fast. Cannot afford to build all the cars up. If someone gifts the whole car and build to me, I will test it and then gift back. Any takers?

Re: Championship Discussion
Well I did some quick tetsing with Ian and general last night and after 2 weeks of being away I could only manage a low 1:50 at in the porka, and not near that in teh aston. Then I jumped in the Viper and did a 1:48.100. hmmmmmm
Re: Championship Discussion
This is a question to everyone. I am very new to the series, but the more established members should be able to determine who drives what.
For example, if the viper is so fast, give it to one of the slower teams.
This is where honesty comes in. If the fast teams find an extremely fast car, what would be the point of racing. They would clearly win. If you put them all in equal cars, the fast teams would more than likely win. BUT, if you put the fast teams in the slow cars, and the slow teams in the fast cars, the racing would be more balanced and more entertaining.
So here is my question:
Is it more important to win the series or to have a close, fun, wheel to wheel epic racing series???

Re: Championship Discussion
Personally, we (XTI) race for fun and if along the way, we get a couple wins, we're happy, but we're still happy if we lose too. often we pick cars based on which are our "favorites" not times and we have NEVER been a fast team, although i have had a couple lucky wins. \
which is why this whole viper thing gets me, we're running 1:50s at catalunya, avenger JUST broke down into the 48.9s and he said he drove the wheels off of it and that it was a "lucky lap"

This is EXACTLY what i've been thinkin for a while now. But i couldn't think of any way it would work. Coz if the slower drivers like myself for instance got some good results then people would complain that it was the car and not the merit and i cant see the faster guys accepting this. The ethos of TORA is that you do well on merit and as level a playing field as possible so although i would love to see this and think it could work if managed very closely i can never see it happening.

Re: Championship Discussion
I'd be more than happy, for the sake of great racing, to be allocated a car in a series of some sort. In the online A Class Pro I nearly always use the bulk standard Porsche RS against the room of A 600 modifieds. Because I have to drive my skin off to win, my enjoyment level is so much higher this way, and rewarding.
To make this work it would need proper consideration. Would it be a one make series with handicaps, like reduced PI for faster drivers, or staggered starts by the lap times in qualifying. Honesty would indeed need to be a large part of it me thinks.
Anyway. My interest stated. Anything considered on this front and I'd be happy to help.

Re: Championship Discussion
Personally, I would like to see the fast teams decide to not use the fastest cars. It doesn't need to be monitored or in the rules. It should be basic etiquette and in the interest of the series.

I quite agree, and this is partly why I'm still plumping for the 'vette at 660 (or even 670 should it turn out that it could be run competitively at that PI without being dominant - we'll see in testing), however don't think I'm not considering all the work you've done on the TVR - at the moment it's definitely faster than the (660) 'vette, so we should swap to that if we want to have a chance of winning the championship under current regulations. I (and I believe WWR Phil) just have a slight, i guess, reluctance to walk away from the 'vette which has so much "stage presence"!
Re: Championship Discussion
..wow. i pulled the tune off the viper i tuned, leaving it with the default tune, and pulled a 1:49.1 on a clean lap. im glad your running the Viper XTi.XTI Nightrider wrote:which is why this whole viper thing gets me, we're running 1:50s at catalunya, avenger JUST broke down into the 48.9s and he said he drove the wheels off of it and that it was a "lucky lap"

Re: Championship Discussion
If you want to have a handicap series. Have it. The way to do that is make all the cars equal. Let people pick the car they want to run. When someone wins, you handicap them with a power penalty or handling penalty. If they win again, you do the same. Eventually you will have someone else win. I for one don't like handicapped series as you never know if you are getting better or if the oposition is being penalized more. You won't get better if you don't race against people that are better than you.

Re: Championship Discussion
I could not agree more. I love the idea of a new series, but like said, do we really need a series with penalties to give others a chance or have some good racing? I guess this all rolls back to the basic etiquette.WWR Chillz wrote:It doesn't need to be monitored or in the rules. It should be basic etiquette and in the interest of the series.
Off topic a smidge, that was kind of the idea of my car choice in the GTC, the Panoz. That car was by no means the most competitive, but I was comfy in it, and I knew that when good racing came, I was ready. Many of the other cars available were either fast with crappy handling, or great handling but several seconds off an "ok" lap. With the Panoz, I knew i didn't have to worry about anything when racing instead of freaking out whenever some racers came by.
Overall, I think TORA members should take a look at these posts. People are obsessed with the fast cars instead of what makes for good racing, and that ruins it for everyone. I don't know, I'm just glad that some other people have some of the same thoughts.
