Round 1 interview: jenson09
Chucky 1982: Being the founder of Forza 2 British GT Championship how did you feel the first event went?
Jenson09: Iwas really impressed. Although we didn't have the numbers I think in terms of spectacle we had a great race. Thre were offs, mis-timed pit stops, but more importantly the racing was pretty close. Generall the outright pace of the cars was really close. And given the little comparison we have had thats outstanding.
Chucky 1982: Would you inpose any rule changes after the first event?
Jenson09: Given the numbers at the moment I think the shorter sprit race will remain until the entrants increase. On the whole I'm pretty happy with the results so far, the regs have given us two close races and some fun cars to play with! I think the general consensus from the other competitors was that is worked well and I think we all had fun.
Chucky 1982: Being a racer in the first event how do you feel it went?
Jenson09: I was a tad disappointed with the first race, the nerves got to me abit and I just made enough of a mistake to allow the two following cars through. After leading from the start that was disappointing but its racing.
The second race was nerve racking! Going down the pit straight and knowing PR3DATOR was so close to exiting the pits was scary. Having him reel me in and make a risky but amazing pass at Becketts got the adrenaline going! I've not been so excited about a race for ages. But for the team a 3rd and 2nd is a fantastic start to the season.
Chucky 1982: How did your car feel?? Will you be changing any of your set ups for Mugello this sunday(2nd March)?
Jenson09: THere were some issues with understeer that came about late in the second race. W've not had that before, so both myself and Steph will be testing long runs in the car to address that issue. Other than that the car felt predictable and didn't spring too many suprises! That won't stop us going out for the win at Mugello on Sunday.
Chucky 1982: What are your views of mtr pr3dator's driving skills during the battle you two was having near the end of the race?
Jenson09: Firm but fair! I have experience of racing with PR3D before and he does try the odd fun move but we've never tangled. The whole race was close and towards the end I think he had a couple of chances he could've taken me off but he didn't so I happy with that. I remember missing a gear out of Luffield and saw his bonnet rigt on my bootlid but he didn't tag me and we both carried on. The pass into Becketts was outstanding, a gutsy move I didn't think he'd pull off but somehow he got the 'Vette stopped. He's a classy driver...just too quick!!
Chucky 1982: Also your views on TVR_Fan's proformance with the battle you had with him early on in the race??
Jenson09: Never raced with him til now but he too is a quality driver. We raced close and had a wee bit of rubbing but it was all fair and alot of fun! On the whole the driving quality has been very professional and racing quality benefits from that for the drivers and spectators alike.
Its a shame we didn't see more frm Chucky 1982 but I can understand if you're new to a series it can take time to get up to speed. I hopeto see him up there soon. He has a good car so I'm sure he can do it.
Chucky 1982: Hopefully one day I will get up there with you lot but maybe better to stay off the road for a while. How do you think the next race in Mugello will go??
Jenson09: Haven't done very much testing there but I like that track. Lots of altitude change and that mega long straight which should suite my car. Just got to get the thing handling in the corners now!
Chucky 1982: With mtr pr3dator only being in 3 races are you yourself kind of thankfull after seeing his great proformance of winning the main race with doing 2 pit stops with the second one of him making a big mistake and hitting the entrance wall to the pit stop?
Jenson09: Yes and no. The end of the race was still really close and if he hadn't had the accident we would have been exiting Copse together. I would say his Corvette had about a second on my Shelby but thats probably down to testing expertise and tting up his car better than mine. I think we can have a great season and I hope he can stick around especially as he leads the series. Not to see it through tothe end would be a shame.
Chucky 1982: Thank you for your time Jenson09 and good luck at Mugello
