First of all some good news.... The pictures are back! Appologies for the last update's blandness but i wrote it when away from my Xbox, however this week the pictures are back
Round 3 Round up: TRC Rally Italia
Round 3 saw the TRC circus roll up in the small Italian Town of Positano and close down the streets for the day to raise hell, and boy did we put on a show!
The Rockstar Energy Drink Rally Team were very happy with the setup of the Impreza WRX STi '05 on the Italian Streets and confidence has high going into Stage A. Confusingly what we call Stage A in the TRC is called the reversed version of what is locally known as Stage C. Slider put in a strong performance placing him 3rd fastest through the Stage just behind the Evo's of RaceProUK and Sgt JigglyMoobs.
Stage B was again confusingly the reversed version of whats locally known as Stage A Locally and Slider was once again putting in a Solid performance in his Rockstar Energy Drink Impreza WRX STi '05. With some seriously close walls in the Stage and a highly unsettling double jump which caught out many people during the Shakedown this was a tricky stage for everybody. Never the less it was again a very good stage for Slider placing him 2nd Fastest on the stage just behind the Evo X of RaceProUK once again. Things were shapeing up for a very strong showing for Slider at one of his favorate events of the callendar.
Stage C Was what was locally known as Stage C which was a great help to the Spectators who were travelling around the town trying to get the most eye contact with the amazing TRC Machines as possible. Things started to slip here for Slider with his best efforts only netting 5th fastest through the stage loosing out to General TsO, Sgt JigglyMoobs, Selective Rogue and SBR Boss Man Sam Billing1991. The Dominance of the Mitsubishi Evolution's was starting to show and were bringing back great memories of the Tommi Makinen years of the WRC and the Dominace of his Evo VI only recently bettered by the all Conquoring Sebastien Loeb.
Stage D was the Local Stage A and saw a Miracle happen, With Slider now in full attack mode and gelling with the Impreza he won Stage D Outright! His first ever Stage win in his TORA Career. Beating second fastest RaceProUK by 0.8 Seconds. however with the Results hidden from everybody until after the Event Slider was completely unaware of his achievement, as were the team.
And so to the Final Stage, Stage E which was a Full Lap of the Entire town and a chance to repay all of the Residents for the use of thier town for the day. Slider was feeling seriously connected to the Impreza now managing to drive just milimeter from the walls at times to score yet another stage Victory. Beating Second Placed Sgt JigglyMoobs by a Massive 3.25 Seconds through the Final Stage. However with Times being kept secret until their official unveiling by TORA everyone was unaware of how they had done and Slider was oblivious to his two stage victories.
Commitments the next day meant Slider had to go to sleep still in the Dark as the TORA Official compiled the times well into the night. However Slider Awoke to the best news he'd ever had.
Still in the Town of Positano Slider Ran out of his Trailer in his underwear to inform the team, as celebrations ensued Slider grabbed his keys and headed for the Rockstar Impreza and Blasted out onto the Streets to Celebrate the only way he knew how.....
This was a huge Victory for Slider and his privateer Crew who achieved many firsts with that Victory....
Slider's First ever TORA Class Victory
The First Ever Subaru Victory in the TRC
The First Ever Non-Mitsubishi Victory in the TRC
The First Ever TRC Victory for a SBR Prepared car
And perhaps most importantly.....
Slider was now LEADING the TRC Drivers Chapionship!!
We Caught up with Slider once he finally returned to the pit area...
"I still cant believe it im so happy! Its not recieved much Media coverage but its so hard to care what the Journo's think of me with that Number one next to my name in the Championship Standings. Ive been in TORA over a year now and ive finally pulled off that Maiden Victory. Im So happy i could Cry!"
Slider Won the TRC Rally Italia by nearly 7 Seconds from The Evolution IX of Sgt JigglyMoobs, a frankly huge margin in Rallying terms.
Round 4: TRC Rally Kaido
Slider Heads into Rally Kaido with just a one point lead in the TRC Drivers Championship and with a good lump of confidence to go along with the now dialled in Rockstar Subaru Impreza WRX STi '05 to try and retain it and hopefully increase the lead even further.
Another thing in Slider's favour is that the Rally is at Mount Fujimi Kaido in Japan where Slider secured his SBR 800K Challenge Champion Title just over a month ago.
"I know Kaido quite well so that should help, however im not expecting a repeat of my performance from Rally Italia. Nerves and the differing nature of the track may well play against me this time out, so dont put your money on me!"
the Team and car remain largely unchanged from Italia with Emma Clements Co-Driving once again and only minor changes to the Setup of the Impreza.
Slider has been in Japan for over a week now as his schedule has all coluded together by accident to keep him in the land of the rising sun. "After my less than sucessful LMS outing at Suzuka with M&M Racing i had to go to America for the TCM with Austins Salzgitter before returning here for the TRC, LMS Motegi, a quick hop off to Spain for TCM and the back again to defend my Title as the SBR 800K Champion." Said Slider, "It's been nice to spend so long in one place as i get more time to relax. However SBR's Small Workshop at the foot of Mount Kaido has sure been busy! We have both of the SBR Drift cars for the Challenge, We've been Rebuilding my M&M Mazda Lola in the workshop aswell since M&M have no premises in Japan (and Suzuka officials didnt want us in the pit lane for the whole of the next Two Weeks) and at the begining of the Week both mine and Sam Billing1991's SBR Prepared Subaru Impreza WRX STi '05's arrived from Italy for the TRC. So as you can imagine things are a little cramped as its only setup for Two cars!"
On The Subject of Sam Billing's Impreza we both would like to set something straight while we have the chance.
These cars are NOT Identical in Any way! They were built by SBR but to our own personal Specifications and we do NOT share any technical data between the two cars as we are competing against each other and ARE NOT A TEAM.
The TRC will be in action again on Thursday 11th March 2010. Good Luck to Mike and Emma and Everyone competing!
