Where did you get YOUR racing Number?
Where did you get YOUR racing number?
I was just woundering where everybody got their Racing numbers from that they use inside TORA (or out of it).
Many of you have asked where i got my Number from (#219) as not many understand why i would want a three digit number.
Well in the UK there are many grass roots racing series held on Oval tracks all over the country, run by different organisations across different surfaces (Shale and Tarmac).
My favorate of these is the 2litre Saloon Stock Car Championship which is run by the ORCI (not sure what it stands for but i'll check) This is run on Ovals of both Shale and Tarmac using sihlouette cars with an external cage or "nerf bars" and 2litre Pinto Engines with Rear Wheel Drive.
My Favorate Driver is #219 Luke Greif (which is where i get my Number from) i have supported him for 3-4 years now and in that time i have seen him secure almost every major title in the series. He is the current National points champion, Mildenhall Track Champion, English Champion and the UK Champion. He is one of my driving Heroes and i have seen him do things in a Stock Car i never thought possible!
Here is a picture of me standing next to his car
So where did you get YOUR number from?? I'd love to hear the stories and think it will all help us know each other a little better.

Re: Where did you get YOUR racing Number?
While I don't have a super cool story, my number 7, has just always kinda been around. In my old soccer (football for some?) days, I've ended up being 7 quite a few times.
7 was also on one of my Pinewood Derby cars. For those who don't know them, they're little blocks of wood with wheels that you and usually a parent design and cut into an actual car. Its very popular in Cub scouts, the level before actual Boy Scouts. My dad ALWAYS came with me and helped me out, and even though we never won, it was really fun and memorable, even though I was probably about 7 (Age has nothing to do with number). Then one year, my dad couldn't attend, and I was...just messed up. My mom came to help out b/c she knew how important it was to me, even though she didn't know how to use the big tools like the other dads, and I couldn't help cause I couldn't see over a table! .
Long story short, a couple of other dads helped us out and we were the only ones to make a pick-up Pinewood Derby car, and I made it #7. It took 2nd that year, but it felt amazing.

Re: Where did you get YOUR racing Number?
when i first signed up, i grabbed #60, as #6 was already in use by Dan. i chose #60 cuz of Mark Martin's Busch/Nationwide Series car number. then i switched to #43 cuz of 'The King' Richard Petty, and the ease of replicating the STP livery when using that number. also chose #43 so that NJ Carsport (during the 2009 GTC) had car numbers that were consecutive (Brnout w/ #42, myself w/ #43, Slim w/ #44)

Re: Where did you get YOUR racing Number?
My number is #28, which I have unfortunately never been able to actualy have on TORA. It comes from my great love of Ferrari when I was young, and I always loved the classic #27 and #28 F1 cars. The first time I went Karting when I was ten (I thought it was the most amazing thing ever) my kart was number #28. Since then its stuck, won my one and only online racing championship with the #28 before I joined the former BGTA.
I used to run the number 27, but for some reason I changed to the #99. I regret that quite a bit
I applied for the #29 a few weeks ago when that particular number was free, but the other night I checked the memberlist and my application has been ignored.

Re: Where did you get YOUR racing Number?
I've ALWAYS raced with #45. It was the number of the first kart I ever raced and in the Uni team I tried to specify 45 or 4 or 5. Which most the time we got!! It also happens to be my lucky number too which helps.
Sim racing has meant I have always had 45 on the car. Which is random seeing how the F1 system works and I was pootling round in a THR Honda on F1 C 99-02 with the #45 on it lol.

Re: Where did you get YOUR racing Number?
Oh how my story is so boring.
Joined with the Brit GT back in the days and could really have any number I wanted as only had a few members at the start.
I have never been with any other online championship and never had forza 1 so to be able to really paint a car and put a number on it was never something I had to do, so on the day i signed up I just thought well I was born in 1982 (hence Chucky 1982) so my racing number 82 being the year I was born.
But I have never seen a real life race car with the number 82 on it

Re: Where did you get YOUR racing Number?
My current number which is 5, purely down to the fact I finished 5th in my first season of the GT's. I would love to be #3 since it's my favourite number and I was born on the 3rd, thats why it's in my gamertag . Also I was giving the #3 shirt when I played football through school and when I played in sunday league. Shame I cant have it tho , might be changing to 14 as thats my lucky number

Re: Where did you get YOUR racing Number?
Well I originally had 114 because 14 is my lucky number but that was taken. Then I joined MB and 28 comes after 26 & 27

Re: Where did you get YOUR racing Number?
ha well we have toby to thank for those number. basically 27 was tobys lucky number, i dont have one but i wanted the MB team to be consecutive. so took 26, i had to be one better than toby of course
Back in the brit GT i did grab 7, but never raced and then all change under the 'TORA' banner.

Re: Where did you get YOUR racing Number?
53, my high school football number(actual football, not that crap you play in england!) I also raced a stock 4 cylinder class and I couldn't use 53 so I used 153, which I haven't ever had to use in Forza as 53 seems to always be available.

there are only 3 real sports
auto racing, mountain climbing and bull fighting.
all the rest are merely games.

i used to play Ice Hockey for Sheffield, and my number was always 6, but that had gone, so 24 cos 2 + 4 = 6

Re: Where did you get YOUR racing Number?
I agree rugby is more manly that American football. Soccer is a great sport, I actually really like it but wanted to cause some heated banter so I threw the football comment in there! Having fun here guys. Thanks!
