................and goodnight Indycar, Randy Banard and the ICHRONICS group have chloroformed your once mighty presence and handed you over to the inbred rapists of NASCAR for the final time.

Re: Like Indy Car racing and currious what the new chassis is going to be?
i dont get your comment garage? if anything they made it more like f1 with the open body rule, new engine rules, new engine manufacterers ect. this will be one of the fastest open wheel series in the world and is now no longer as big a joke by making it more like a real racing series other than a spec series
Re: Like Indy Car racing and currious what the new chassis is going to be?
It's one-make, UHgain.
It's suggesting that companies are willing to build bodyparts onto a rival companies car, which wont happen.
And sooner or later everyone will end up with the same bits, and we're back to square one.
It's stabbed every other manufacturers attempt to get into this sport in the back.
At least with deltawing it was always a template and anyone could make one to similar but not exact guidelines, and youd KNOW what an Indycar would look like, much like you'd know what a NASCAR car looks like, what an F1 car looks like, what a Le Mans prototype looks like, WRC and so on.
They say theyve listened to the fans and this is FAR from what the fans wanted.
And also, American series (whats left of it) and who's providing the chassis, a company from italy, nobody will bother.
Expect the Indy 500 to be a NASCAR event from 2013

Re: Like Indy Car racing and currious what the new chassis is going to be?
american fans dont care about where the chassis comes from tbh, we just like an entertaining race. and the cars WILL be different, someones always going to be trying something different, no matter how close the cars start to look, there will always be someone experimenting. They used to have two chassis and the racing wasnt as good, with one, the racing can be controlled, but still have some individuality for the teams with the bodywork and engines, but the same basic chassis will keep at least some level of competition, do you have a problem with the ngtc engine? or the dtm body kits, or that dtm cars have mandated gearing, and that v8 supercars have mandated differentials?
Re: Like Indy Car racing and currious what the new chassis is going to be?
I dont have a problem with the engines, I'll be amazed if Honda will be gullable enough to enter this joke.
As for the DTM , lost interest in that in 2006, not because everything was the same, the races were too long and the pitstops have become more and more pointless, almost the same with V8 Supercars, but I'd still watch them if I could only get to see them properly.

you stated that with the delta wing the cars would be different.... um no!?!?!?!?! deltawing would have been the exact same thing that you're so against with the Dallara the Deltawing would have been a base chassis (which the Dallara is) and would have had different body kits to make the cars look different (which the Dallara will do!) and the fact that you mention that NASCAR has diversity in their cars makes me wonder what NASCAR you have been seeing because EVERY SINGLE ONE of those cars are exactly the same just with different stickers on them and if you dont believe me get yourself photoshop and edit out the stickers on all cars and look how they all are the same!

Re: Like Indy Car racing and currious what the new chassis is going to be?
no they have different like indents on the front, hard to explain, but having seen the cot up close several times i just noticed some stuff like that. really hard to explain though. i cant wait to see how many design elements from other open wheel series come over to indycar
Re: Like Indy Car racing and currious what the new chassis is going to be?
indeed same here i F1 esque front wing would be kinda cool to see

Re: Like Indy Car racing and currious what the new chassis is going to be?
These rules remind me of a defunct japanese series with very wacky rules, can't remember the name of it unfortunately... But ultimately, there was a spec chassis and tub, and all the teams came up with their own designs for the car, and what came out of it was some very very interesting looking cars
I think, at this moment in time, this is the best compromise. Randy Bernard ain't stupid, he knows that people want competition in the chassis aswell as the engines, I think this is the first logical step which should bring about long term gains. Remember guys, for the first time for over ten years we are going to see teams come up with their own ideas rather than buying chassis from someone like Swift, Reynard, Lola, whatever. Sure, the tub, the underfloor and the rear section will be the same on every car, but Indycar now has F1-esque rules regarding bodywork. I'd imagine there are strict guidelines as to the limits, in terms of height and distance from other parts of the car, where certain bodywork parts can be placed.
I see it as this: Dallara supplies the bits to keep the drivers safe, the teams do the rest and buy an engine from one of the available suppliers. From now on, a Penske will look like a Penske, a Chip Gannasi will look like a Chip Gannasi and a Newman/Hass will look like a Newman/Hass and so on.
This is a great compromise, as, at the moment, there simply is not enough money in Indycar to be introducing multiple chassis, this is the best idea for now, rather than simply just having multiple chassis, then burning out of interest after 5 years (remember, all good series only ever have a around 6 -10 really good years, look at the DTM back in the early nineties, the BTCC in the nineties, the WRC and so on) these differences in aerodynamics and engines between the cars should get interest back in the series, people will start watching again, and it doesn't necisarily have to be average joes to watch it, Indycar needs to capture the audience it lost all those years ago.
For the first time in years the teams have the ULTIMATE technical freedom!

Thats not what I meant, Give anyone a picture of a car that has open wheels, they're going to say F1.
Give anyone this http://micheleroohani.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/stock-car-jacom-stephens.jpg and they'll say Stock car, running to Deltawing would be completely unique, you would be able to say once you look at it "Thats Indycar". I dont think you are going to get that with Dallara.

Its a whole new approach, its a good approach. Just face it people, we are NOT getting CART back.
That would be like Obama suddenly wanting to go back to the Moon with Apollo hardware.. Ain't gonna happen!

Re: Like Indy Car racing and currious what the new chassis is going to be?
and show anyone a btcc car, and theyll say, oh thats a race car or something along that line.
the average american race fan follows NASCAR with a dabble in indy car and ALMS now and then. they dont keep going back to indy car because TBH, they arent that great to watch. spec series in general (indy car IS a spec series, they may not advertise as such but it is) and spec series, by definition are very boring. (with the excepion of a few of the slower ones, like spec miata, and low tier open wheelers) and in these the same people are always up front. hopefully these rules will lead to some more competition, maybe new people up front. for teams its the best of both worlds, they save money in buying a pre designed already safe tub, but they got to design thier own inovotions on the tub to be quicker or slower. they then get more freedom with multiple engine suppliers comming back. F1 has had a majorly exciting string of races, and now indycars going to be getting there with these new rules. i dont care who run the series, it could be kim jong il for all i care, these new rules are just smart.
I second chads newwy comment. look at what he did with the rbr, imagine what he can do with an indy car.
