Make your own Street Course
working off an idea i saw on ForzaCentral, i want to see what you guys come up with using google maps
here's what i came up with:
just under 10 miles in length, and nearly 1/2 on highway. and a good portion of what isnt on highway, its on single-lane roadways (one-lane each way)

Re: Make your own Street Course
This is the same route I did for the Vodafone McLaren street race game. It's actually quite a good little circuit with some tight and twisty sections in town then the long drag along the seafront.
A similar street circuit in Weston-super-Mare. Utilises the full length of the seafront... MASSIVE! and taking in all the major landmarks. The town section has some tight chicanes and some bumpy sections including flyovers and bridges. The beach sections should be epically quick!

Re: Make your own Street Course
Awesome guys. There's two amazing ones in Birmingham that people actually use for street racing. The ring road loop through the tunnels and there's an awesome track around Merry Hill. I'll see if I can get them on here when I get back from work.

Re: Make your own Street Course
Im not good With Google Maps.....
How do you get the blue line on the bit you want to be your circuit?
How do you get the blue line on the bit you want to be your circuit?
Re: Make your own Street Course
If you put point A and point B on the same stretch of road quite close together, you can click and drag the blue line anywhere else. When you have the route you want, move point A and B back together to complete the route.
Re: Make your own Street Course
hehe... I love designing tracks. Don't do it too much these days, but here is my Glasgow Green street circuit I made a while back.
So, the Start/Finnish line, situated in the south of the park overlooking the Clyde-side path below with Nelson's Momument, the McLennan Arch and the Tollbooth Tower in the background, then its into the fast, steep downhill St. Andrews curve which would require alot of commitment perfect, similar to that downhill chicane at Pau. A long blast alongside the Clyde, past the rowing club and into Kings Drive Corner, a sharp left uphill left hander that takes you onto the main road above. Then its onto James Street Curve, a sharp left hander which leads onto Arcadia Street and the subsequent Arcadia chicane, a very fast, narrow complex. Then its back into the eye candy of the park that even Bernie Ecclestone would approve of. Down the long straight towards the Doulton Complex infront of the famous People's Palace with the Merchant City Tollbooth Tower peering over the skyline in the distance. Then its into the spectator friendly Tollbooth-Charlotte Street section, which puts you back into the park towards the McLennan Arch, another famous landmark overlooking a light left hand hairpin. Then its down another long tree-lined straight towards the Nelsons Monument Chicane, which is followed by a short squeeze to the Palace Curve. And thats a lap of the track.
Its 4km in legnth.
Red - Track
Lime Green - Pit Road
Blue Outline - Pit Box
Yellow - Barriers
Dark Green Outline - Public Attractions
Pink Outline - Paddock
White - Spectator Bridges
Purple - Spectator Stands

Another nice little route is this run around Cardiff. I was inspired by the Red Bull Track Attack I went to there a few years ago which saw the F1 team set up a massive karting track using the roads around Cardiff Bay.
This route starts and finishes alongside Bute Park, a hairpin right then another long straight takes you down the length of the University and towards town, it's then a left and a long right hander around the edge of the city centre following the main road down towards the top half of the Bay.
The track then loops back round up over the river, by the Millenium Stadium and through the centre and by the castle before hitting the home straight again

Heres a loop containing my two favorate local hunting grounds....

The map really doesnt do the twistyness of the section under "B", if there wasnt any oncoming traffic to worry about a small car could carry so much speed through there! So many good timeschasing Vigourously following my Dads 2 litre Ford Mondeo....

Re: Make your own Street Course
A few tracks I made for Generally (the best racing game ever made imo)
Bobhurst: (first pic has 2010 British Formula Ford carpack, second pic includes the 1996 F1 carpack)
Schanche with Group C 1988-1991 carpack: (Includes rallycross variant)
Greenwood with the Grp C's, also has a rallycross variant:
this one has no name

Re: Make your own Street Course
i took another stab after seeing all your guys' tricky courses compared to my original high-speed one (it looks like a high-speed layout to me anyways)
Towards the middle of the track i had to use streets that went under train track bridges, as i doubt railroad crossings arent good for race car suspensions. And where 'West St' and 'Main St' meet, is the Center of town. the top of the track actually goes by my high school too. and the highway off-ramp where the layout leads, at a high rate of speed, you can catch air going over the crest of the hill there, followed by a long downhill onto 'North St'
this is 8.4 miles compared to that 10-mile one from before

Re: Make your own Street Course
The perimeter road around Gatwick Airport would make a great "la Sarthe" style circuit. Would put a pic up, but I can't grab a screeny without my PC crashing at work.
Re: Make your own Street Course
A road race around Loch Lomand would be epic!
And there is a road just off the ''Rest and be Thankfull'' (itself a very good road) in Argyll which is a single lane road winding down the side of a valley to get to a place called Loch Goilhead which is one of the best roads I have ever seen!

A bit too twisty and long for me, but just imagine a Grand Prix with a Delta, Atlas, Falcon or Shuttle Launch going on in the background!
