Re: TCC Meeting 7 Discussion Thread – MUGELLO (Club Circuit)
Car was quicker than qualy suggested (1.03.197), but I damaged my gearbox after forgetting I was running with the clutch, meaning I lost about half a second - race pace was low 1.02s.
The car has always been strong on the straights, and although it hasn't proved this pace in other races (like Sebring), it was brutal on the straights here.
Race one saw me take the lead early on, then ColinMcRae555 and I battled it out until the last few laps. His Focus was quick through the corners, particularly the final sector, and he was closing to within a 100 feet by the end of the lap, but as soon as I got on the straights the Civic took off. A few mistakes from him on the last few laps gave me a gap, and I just had to get the car home after that.
Race two had the reverse grid, which had me at the back due to the lobby win of race one. Got a great start, no wheelspin, and the car launched like a rocket. By the first corner I was tucked into 3rd behind the two Ten-tenths boys in their DS3s. A safety car was called due to a collision further back, but on the restart I fell asleep and the DS3s got a great getaway. The Civic's pace dragged me back onto their bumpers, and eventually I worked my past to take the second lobby win.
Race three saw us promoted to lobby A, and I was on pole. I had ColinMcRae555 and RichXM655 behind, so I knew a good launch would be crucial. The BMW is mega off the line, and I've been bottled up behind Rich with no way past before, so I knew I had to nail the start, and that's exactly what I did. Again, dropped it at the right time, no wheelspin and a great start got me into turn 1 in the lead. The car was then lapping consistently low 1.02s until the end, and I crossed the line with a 10 second gap to second.
It did feel like the car I was running was unfair due to taking all three lobby wins, and the sheer speed I was getting down the straight, but I was running the same tune I have since Sunset Infield earlier in the season, and it suited Mugello perfectly. The car came alive on this track (especially when the tyres were up to pressure) compared to the rest of the season - I felt I was fighting it at Sebring, and I know that come Silverstone in a fortnight, it will not be anywhere near the pace it was giving me last night.

Re: TCC Meeting 7 Discussion Thread – MUGELLO (Club Circuit)
Not quite sure what happened last night. I pretty much ended up going backwards in the races, with not having much confidence in the car. The car was setup to be a bit pointy until the tyres came up which would make qually interesting, but once everything settled down it should have felt pretty good. That's what happened in testing anyway! For some reason it didn't seem to pan out for the race.
Still we live and learn. Here's looking to Silverstone to try and bounce back!

gotta say when i was in front of you.. the pace that focus had out of the corners was awesome.. on the straights.. felt like i could make time up.
gotta to say that was the best set of results so far in the TCC for me.. 3rd, 2nd, 5th.. The fifth was a let down for me as this was the big point race..
I went very light, with a grip build.. which i felt the most comfortable with.. i felt confident in pushing the car in the twisty section.. those DS3 where all over me on the start/finish straight in the last race.. I think FLC took a slight knock off me.. sorry about that..
credit to chucky for sharing his build as this has made such a difference to my cars set-up..
cK was different class had to settle down to 3rd and 2nd in the first 2 races as i had no way of catching first place.
but all in all.. Italy was very nice in the fall..

Your car was probably ok, by the sounds of it it was your qualifying that put you back where you didnt deserve to be (0.5 seconds would have put youi in a higher lobby i assume) You were just where you wernt meant to be.
Im glad the series is still pulling out some great battles, i hate not being able to run due to work.
Re: TCC Meeting 7 Discussion Thread – MUGELLO (Club Circuit)

Re: TCC Meeting 7 Discussion Thread – MUGELLO (Club Circuit)
Take a look at the top of the points standings in both teams and drivers. Slim not making this race has tightened up the points in both championships by a ton. Will Aero continue to just out score the field to take the crown? Will his team have the consistancy of the championship as they have done so far? Pretty cool stuff I think.
