TFD Championship Finale Preview
The Title Contenders:
Only Two drivers can win the title after fighting blow for blow all season....
Driver: Magictap
Number: #73
TORA Titles: 0
Other Titles: 0
Car: ForzaTune Datsun 510 RB26
Championship Position: 1st
Championship leader Magictap is perhaps the biggest surprise of the TFD Season starting off the season with a dominant victory and making his championship intentions perfectly clear. He may have the oldest car on the grid but don’t let that fool you, it is a serious piece of kit and rumoured to be the most powerful car on the grid by some margin. Favourite to take the title in most peoples books after another dominant victory at Round 5, all eyes will be on the Legendary Hot lap expert as he looks to secure his first ever TORA title.
Driver: Slider S15
Number: #219
TORA Titles: 1 (TRC World Champion 2010)
Other Titles: 2 (SBR 800K, SBR 800KII)
Car: SBR Falken Rockstar Saturn Sky Redline V8
Championship Position: 2nd
Reigning TRC World Champion Slider S15 was a pre-season favourite to take the TFD Title and as predicted he is still at the sharp end of things come crunch time and in with a real shot at the TFD Title. Still hungry for title glory and knowing what it takes to clinch a championship at the final round Slider S15 should not be disregarded in the fight for the title despite his points deficit in the Championship. One of the most experienced Drifters on the Grid in a well proven car, don’t be surprised if it’s Slider S15 on top when the chequered flag falls on the TFD Season.
The Danger Men:
If the Title contenders think that the others will step back and let them fight it out they are seriously mistaken.....
Driver: NickyF1
Number: #99
TORA Titles: 0
Other Titles: 0
Car: Phenomenal TengTools Toyota Supra ‘92
Championship Position: 9th
Storming to 3rd place on his TFD Debut at Round 5 NickyF1 showed flashes of brilliance which could see him being a major factor in the outcome of the TFD Title race, with no championship aspirations of his own he will be out to take Victory at the TFD finale and with his McRae-esque flat out driving style he might just do it. Should one of the Championship contenders slip at any time you can expect Nicky to pounce and press home any advantage he can, yet perfectly capable of taking the win on the night in his own right, and ending the title dreams of either championship contender.
Driver: Sam Billing1991
Number: #220
TORA Titles: 1 (HRC World Champion 2010)
Other Titles: 0
Car: SBR Sumo Power Nissan S15 RB26
Championship Position: 6th
Never underestimate the Reigning HRC World Champion, especially behind the wheel of a drift car. The SBR Boss and Founder has had a championship campaign sullied by bad luck preventing him from competing, but when he has he’s shown he’s up there with the Title Contenders. If one of the Title Contenders slips up he is perfectly capable of slipping into the podium positions and stealing points. If rumours are to be believed Sam will be bringing two visually identical S15’s to the TFD Finale, one his RB26 Powered car, and the other a Slider S15 built car with a secret experimental engine. Underestimate him at your peril!
The Battle for 4th:
The heat is on further down the field, and its burning just as hot….
One of the hottest battles at the TFD Finale could be the three way battle for 4th, with no Silverware on offer its purely a battle for honour and respect, and as a famous person once said…. “To some people that’s more important.”
Leading the way on 111points is TORA Lady Racer StaceyLovesChad. A big crash at Round 2 was the turning point for Stacey in her debut season, with the Car rebuilt by SBR’s Driftworks division the results soon followed with a 3rd place at Round 4 being a highlight, don’t underestimate the Stacey or the relatively low spec Honda S2000, with a sizeable lead she’s odds on favourite to take 4th.
Next on 80 points is XTI Avenger whose podium finishes in the two events he’s attended are a stark reminder that he can get the job done, and get it done well. Other things have kept him away from the series since round 2, but a return here at the TFD Finale could see him steal the honours from the SBR Drivers.
Finally close behind is Sam Billing1991 in the other Pink SBR Machine, an on off season due to bad luck keeping him from the track has seen Sam’s 2 races have him just 3 points behind Avenger with it all to play for. A switch from his Mercedes to his RB26 Powered S15 and signing SumoPower as a sponsor, Sam has also reached the podium this year with just one little slip putting pay to a 2nd place at round 3.
With all three drivers scoring a podium this could be the tightest and most entertaining battle of the season, and of the TFD finale so keep your eyes on these three come showtime!
