Post by ATR DAN Sat 22 Jan 2011 - 14:12

Hey guys.
I was just thinking about what peoples plans are in terms of attending motor races or shows and stuff?
I don't know whether I will (depending on finances and admittingly my confidence), but I was thinking about attending this years Britcar later in the year. I've always wanted to go since watching the guys off Top Gear had ago at it.

Dan Britcar has been an annual thing for TORA folk (ok mainly me and Shane) for the last two years). The more TORA people there the merrier!

My events this year should look like this:

BTCC (either Donny or Thruxton)
Le Mans (god willing!)
GT1 WC Silverstone
ILMC Silverstone
GT2 Endurance Championship
Britcar 24hrs

Do! I really enjoyed it (despite the rain!) Camp and if you can get the spot early I highly recommend watching form the Bus Stop.
I also found a really cheeky spot to watch up close to the barriers through the trees at the top of the circuit but shhh Razz

Not sure where I'll be going this year, I'm hoping to make at least 1 F1 race either at Silverstone or elsewhere in Europe...also the Moto GP.

I may decide to tag along with the parents to a few Jap shows this year, I love tagging along in an all Impreza convoy. The sound is immense, I've been to Silverstone countless times as I live so bloody close to it but nothing compares to the sound of 100 Scoobys in a tunnel!!! Twisted Evil

Yeah ok. I'll have to go this year......somehow.

Just a couple of questions:

1: What do you need to take with you? I've never been to a race meeting before and this being a 24 hour race I will need to take something I'm guessing.
2: How do you sleep through the noise of the cars at night? lol Razz
3: Whats the nearest train station from silverstone because there aren't any at the village obviously.

1) Warm clothes (it's October!) a tent, food and money.
2) You just do!
3) I think Banbury is one of the nearest or possibly Towcester, from there grab a bus to Silverstone and it's a short walk from the village to the circuit.

Incidentaly if anyone is looking to go to Britcar this year TORA will be in attendance and it'd be great to see as many of the team there as possible. Yeah the weather can be mixed but we have had three great years there so far Smile

I'll get some details together from my friends at White Rabbit Racing and see what they are planning for 2011

Britcar is the 29th September to the 4th October. I am off over that time so I may head down to meet you guys.

Ian and I are also contemplating going to the Ring 24, as I am working for Le Mans this year.

1; depends there are food stands and stuff but if you want anything particular you need to bring it with you
2; hang on sleep during the 24 hours? okay yes if you are tired you can sleep no problem and there is absolutely nothing better than waking up to the whine of a turbo charged lotus engine less than 100 metres from you

my plans for this year are sorta limited due to savibng for a wedding but i am going to le mans
