Post by JAMIE ANDERS0N Sat 29 Jan 2011 - 11:47

Sunday 30/01/11 is Meeting 1, Round 1 at Motegi starting at 20:00GMT

ISCC Meeting 1 Discussion Thread – Motegi (Full Circuit) Round1

Race Format

Qualifying

-Cars from the same class will be group together where possible in an attempt to give drivers as many clean laps as possible.

-Drivers will have a 5 second per car roll off delay.

- Qualy will be 5 laps (1 warm up, 3 timed and 1 cool down to collect times)

Race 1 (Round 1)

1Hour 30mins

-Lobbies will be mixed with 4 cars from each class. (ex. lobby one = 4 P1 cars and 4 P2 Cars, lobby two =4 P2 Cars and 4 GT2 Cars and lobby three will be 4 P1 Cars and 4 GT2 Cars)

-Rolling starts

-With mixed lobbies comes greater risk of accidents, it is imperative that the faster cars take the needed steps to ensure a clean pass, slower cars you are to race your line, and it is up to the faster cars to find a way around, DON'T try to help them by moving over, because you may just be moving over into their path.

Multi Class racing / overtaking etiquette:

It is my understanding that the best and fairest way for overtaking is for the slowest class car/s in a multi class lobby to stick to their racing line and battle it out as if no other faster class car was about.

It is up to the faster class cars to overtake at a point when it is possible leaving the slower class car/s to run the racing line.

This way it's easier to judge where overtaking is best without having to second guess which way ddrivers might let someone past.

Is this the standard we will be using or is there another rule set we should adhear to for multi class overtaking?

Cheers Matt

These rules are great. When it´s time for the faster cars to get past the slower ones, the slower ones should ALWAYS stick to the racing line. Personally (me driving a P1 car) I will always stick OFF the racing line when passing a slower car.

The important thing for the one who is going to pass a slower car is that he chooses a wise and safe place on the track to overtake. It´s a long race and if you rush a overtake you risk destroying the race for both yourself, and someone in another class..

Last thing. Everyone has a microphone. Communication is the key to safe overtaking! See you all at the track tomorrow guys. Really looking forward to this!! Smile

there,s plenty of straits overtaking should not be a problem for people in r1 cars, you should only be waiting 1 corner.

The P1 cars have no problem if they just wait the one corner. I just worry about the chicane and the uphill s. Someone is going to panic and try to pass there and piss off the world

Another suggestion for multi class racing etiqutte. For faster class cars, being patient and not forcing past someone just because the car they are racing in front has already passed and is pulling a gap.

If the car in front passes by finding a hole, please try to resist just diving in to that hole which by the nature of the slower car still having to take the racing line WILL and should result in said gap closing, either before or while your are tin it.

Just remember. When the car in front is getting away, it'll have more traffic again in which the gap will close back up.

Also, should you spin / crash / leave the track. pleaae please please look before rejoining the circuit. As not only the racing line in multi class lobbies will have cars heading towards on!!

If someone is comming, either wait until they pass or try to drive on the grass until they pass before rejoining.

Cheers all ;O)

Note to self:
Tuning a car for two weeks then not driving it for a week makes you lose a lot of time. Got back in the Porsche last night and it isn't pretty. I was on the cusp of running 1:49's and now my best is 1:51.550. Take a break for a bit now then back to it.
