Re: Round 2: Sunset Infield Reverse: 10/06/08 9pm
In what resembled the start of the BTC era with a whopping 6 cars on the grid, the Sunset Infield race was always going to be a quicker affair. However the drivers tht did show put up a good fight and the resulting races were action packed to say the least.
With SEAT being the only major manufacturer at Sunset it was really down to which of the four SEAT cars would win rather than which team. Halfords put up a strong fight, fielding their new Civic Type R along with the venerable Integra, theirs was not a challenge to ignore.
The SEATS were split between a single entry from THR SEAT UK (wth second driver TVR otherwise engaged) aswell as Team WKD (the only complete SEAT team) and Team Orange represented by JAMMY D.
All the races were fairly close affairs (at least amongst the eading trio of SEATS), lots of contact and plenty of action throughout the field including the closest finish in the series thus far. The SEATS of JAMMY D and LUCKIER basically inseperable throughout the weekend.
Jenson09's semi-works SEAT followed behind but a series of mechanical difficulties and a poor set up blunted the THR drivers attack as did contact with both ckrenneke and LUCKIER on more than one occasion. The SEAT driver was apologetic and explained that understeer or snap oversteer had blighted the race weekend even though the problem had not surfaced all through testing leaving the THR boys scratching their heads aswell as thouroughly frustrated.
But at the sharp end it was the SEAT of JAMMY D that ruled, winning both the first two races with only LUCKIER breaking the trend with a win in the reverse grid race.
Team Halfords were down to one car for the last two races, ckbrenneke driving the wheels off the Civic to points paying positions in all three races. He was supported by series newcome craigsteralex who took a car he was unfamiliar with and stayed close to th back of the pack, overtaking jenson09 when the SEAT suffered a technical failure and the Halfords driver scored on his maiden race. However the good weekend was hampered by technical dramas post race which forced him to sit out the rest of the day much to the teams dismay.
On a day when many cars failed to arrive at the circuit it was a chance to gather much needd points for those that did.
Even with so few cars on the grid, the drivers put on quite a show and proved that even five car cant miss each other in a touring car race!!
The results are as follows:
Qualy:
1: JAMMY D NASTY: 1.33.197
2: BDR LUCKIER: 1.33.756
