I'm loving all the Irish sport on the iPlayer, I can keep up to date with the All-Ireland GAA Senior Football. Albeit the Ulster Knockout rounds only (I'm a Galway fan, the play in the Connacht championship). Hopefully they show the All-Ireland Final.

Anyone seen TT: Closer to the Edge? I'm a big fan of the road racing, and this film was simply fantastic, I urge ALL of you to try and watch it (be that on DVD or on le 'net). It's certainly re-lit that road racing fire in me. I'm normally not a fan of the two wheeled stuff (WSBK, BSB, MotoGP).. But the road racing is certainly where it's at.

Here's a race that's become part as part of the road racing season as the North West 200 or the Gold Cup at Oliver's Mount: The Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Watched Closer to the Edge yesterday, it's bloody awesome!
I've been bad and haven't caught much bike racing this year (tends to be my Xmas catch up DVD!) but I'd forgotten how bonkers Guy is.
Such a brilliant character. But what about Conner's crash at the end! Blimey! He got away incredibly well from that considering...

All the road racers are great characters, Guy especially! Conner's crash was just unreal, he is a lucky man indeed.

Hearing Guy with his ''I've 'ad four moments like that, where I've just thought 'pffffffffft, well that's it then!''.. Just gold really. The film really does get across the riders' respect for the track, and that they would not be too bothered about dying. As Guy said, he went into Balagarey, felt the front wasn't gripping, and ''jumped ship'' at 180mph!

Always liked the guy. Bloody funny and as you say, the film really does get into the mindset of the road racer.
I think you've gotta be pretty unhinged to do road racing though, at least there is some sort of 'controlled environment' about circuit racing, and there's places I wouldn't even do that like Cadwell Oulton or Mallory. Just so incredibly quick on a bike.
Some of the crashes they show are horrible! I swear there's a sidecar crash and you see one of the guys bounce off a brick wall! Ouch!

I'm not sure I could even begin to comprehend doing a road race!

I have done a little bit of downhill mountain biking. Great fun, but I'm still at the stage where I'm afraid to 'push' it to the bikes capability, simply because I'm scared of clipping trees or falling off the edge of a raised section or losing it in mid-air or whatever...

Then when you consider going 170-180mph through Balagarey.... Jesus!

I tried to watch this years NW200 on the red button, but the whole thing got rained off...
