GRAND-AM Road Racing Empty GRAND-AM Road Racing

Post by F4H FACEPALMER Mon 30 May 2011 - 19:36

Does anybody else follow the Rolex Sports Car Series? Multiclass racing with Daytona Prototypes and a GT class.

There is also a support series, the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, those races are usually good and feature two classes, Grand Sport and Street Tuner. They don't show too many Continental Tire races on TV unfortunately.

Anyways, the Memorial Day Classic is underway at Lime Rock. The dominant duo of Pruett/Rojas are out of the race and will not win for the 2nd race in a row.

The Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge is always really good fun to watch.

The closest thing to proper Group A Touring Car racing in the world!

Lime Rock is about two or three hours south from where I am, and I've got a few friends in CT so hopefully next year I'll have some money to go.

HOOLY [Censored]!!!! that was a scary crash. Watching Road America race.

EDIT: They've been under caution for 50 minutes now. I'm surprised they haven't just red flagged the race.

Woah there!

Thats no place to be doing high jumps.

Wasn't really much impact, the car just sort of went into the tyres which carried on under the car. Much better than going head on into a static wall.

Pretty crazy crash, me and my dad were amazed he walked away after something like that when we were watching the race this morning. 2 weeks time though, Laguna Seca. Already have my tickets. Very Happy

Ooooh mama, I love the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. This really needs to be the world standard for Touring Car regulations, this can't be more expensive than doing NGTC, surely?

Better still, take the Camaro's and Mustang's out of the top class and use 'em for NASCAR.

the 458 Italia Grand Am's remarkably similar to the Euro-spec 458 Italia GT3, only a bit worse.

Looks better though...

Why does Grand-Am still go to New Jersey? Just now watching the Rolex race from this past weekend and, like last year, numorous reports of drivers having to go to medical center due to overheating. Something like 160 degrees F in the cockpit.

One of the Speedsource Mazda GT cars is actually running WITHOUT a cool suit system to save weight. Absolutely mental...
