I really hope Bernie doesn't screw all of us here. As painful as Jake and EJ are to watch, Martin Brundle and DC are actually pretty good imo. I just wish DC would stop saying "Sorry to interrupt you here Martin, but..." before everything he said lol.

Thats The Sun. Sensationalist tabloid piece of poo.
Basically, BBC's F1 contract ends in 2013. They have not said they will be scrapping it.

Re: Channel 4 express interest in getting the F1
Its in the Times too. It's part of a BBC-wide look at costs etc. I think they would be mighty dumb to get rid of F1 considering the impressive viewing figures and development in demographic and viewing style too.
Axing F1 to save a channel that is only good for poncy documentaries about flutes of dusty books that probably picks up 1/8 of the viewing figures of F1 on any given weekend is madness.
Fingers crossed they're speculating here.

Re: Channel 4 express interest in getting the F1
They say that BBC4 don't get many viewers. Yeah, we know, it's crap thats why. In the long run, I think its better to axe BBC4, cos, if they axe F1, yes thats a lot of money to spend on new shows or whatever, and maybe get another 2 viewers. But if they keep F1, they will still have tonnes of viewers and have spare money left over from BBC4.

Re: Channel 4 express interest in getting the F1
I believe part of their mandate is that they have to have a certain amount of viewing time for different types of programming. I think they produced BBC4 so that they could dedicate BBC 1 and 2 to other sorts of programs people actually want to watch. When was the last time you saw a history documentary on BBC2?
It's a cynical way to look at it but it's kinda true.

Hayfisher's GT and F3 coverage is always on Channel 4, wonder if that means the two Martins (Haven and Brudle) doing comms?
As for commercials....big deal, if there were commercials this season nobody would have missed anything...

Have you not been watching F1 this season?? For all of the races apart from the bore-fest that was at Valencia and the slight dull Aussie GP (which was the season opener meaning it's still interesting if it is a boring race), the rest have been really exciting and it's been a cracker even if Vettel's won 6 out of 8 races!

Re: Channel 4 express interest in getting the F1
F1 races are only interesting because they make the slightest bit of strategy seem so.
The only thing that makes F1 fun is you and whoever else is watching discussing strategy as if you are the expert!

Re: Channel 4 express interest in getting the F1
If you dont want ad breaks in an F1 race, the only way your going to get them is by subscribing to Sky Sports IF they end up bagging the rights.
They NEVER went to an ad-break when they had A1GP live unless a safety car was called out...

Re: Channel 4 express interest in getting the F1
Just no. I hate adverts. Why can't the BBC realise BBC4 is crap and kill it? Or just leave it as it is or cut something else off.
