What's your ideal F1 calender? Empty What's your ideal F1 calender?

Post by Stonewall458 Mon 18 Jul 2011 - 3:12

On the next podcast (02x13, not tomorrow) I will collect all the data you guys have mentioned and showcase it on the show.

Couple of rules
-Maximum of 20 different tracks
-Have to be tracks that have hosted a Grand Prix at some point
-Cannot use different layouts of the same track
(ex. Bugatti Circuit or Circuit de La Sarthe, not both)
(ex. 1960s Spa or 2009 Spa, not both)

They don't have to be in any specific order, all I want are 20 tracks.

I don't recall these tracks having Grand Prixes.

This might help if you guys need ideas.

The GP track at the ring, and I missed the line about having to have held a GP in the past.

However: I'm pretty sure Potrero de los Funes is FIA Grade 1 or whatever the F1 standard is for tracks, so its capable of hosting it. Laguna Seca is arguably one of the best tracks in the western hemisphere, and with some work would be able to host it. And I'm part of the crowd that thinks F1 needs an oval round. It would appeal to the massive American audience they are missing out on. It would provide a unique challenge to drivers who are supposed to be the best in the world. And it would be a technical challenge for the cars as well.

Those were 20 tracks that I think could make up a realistic season, I left out all of the ones that I don't think could ever happen or work.

I don't disagree with you on those points.
BUT
If I agree to let those in, I'd have to allow any old circuit that people request. That isn't what this exercise is about. It's mainly about the circuits that F1 fans love and would want to see back on the calender.

Don't worry, I read your post.

My ideal calendar includes tracks that have not been used before.

There are only four which have not held a Grand Prix in the past.

I suppose I can allow other tracks as well.
Limit of 5 non-GP tracks.

EDIT: one more thing nicky, this would essentially be one F1 season, so tracks wouldn't alternate. Razz

Couldn't agree more. All the tracks also need more CAMPARI and Marlboro sponsors around the track to make it feel like the 90's again!
